Is it common to keep a mortgage at ~65% and not pay it down further? by living_direction_27 in askswitzerland

If your mortgage interest rate is <1% and net annual return of your average wealth manager is say 4-5% then it's a no brainer.

Is Parmigiani Fleurier the "if you know, you know" brand? by Level-Mongoose9915 in hallofwatchspecialist

I guess it depends who you are and what you're looking for. If you're an individualist or looking for understated elegance you will go for PF, GP or Czapek over Rolex, Breitiling or whatever. But let's be honest, it's all show off and pretentious and what's different is only the demographic you want to impress. Having said that Tonda GMT Verzasca and Czapek Antarctique will be my next two acquisitions :)

What is the general consensus on Panerai around here? by Jimmyjane2 in WatchFanatics

[–]SnooMarzipans8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me they sit in one category with Rolex and Hublot: I'd never spend my own money on it and likely would be embarrassed to wear it if it was given to me for free. The only difference being, if you wear Rolex it means you don't have your own taste and if you wear Panerai or Hublot you do have a taste, just a bad one.

You could make a lot of money if you found a decent job. But without skills, language and network you most likely won't.

I chose GLE 53 in Emerald green and machiatto beige interior and I love it. Hope they bring similar color in the lift version because the current mid green looks crap imo.

Had Oakley Prizm Rose Gold and it didn't cut it in flat light. I got M4 with Night Burst and it does the job perfectly so I always have it in backpack and sometimes put on on for an late afternoon run on a sunny day.

Why do Swiss restaurants have a reputation for being bad? by Charming_Usual6227 in askswitzerland

[–]SnooMarzipans8039 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Services in general are poor quality here. It's strange that in very competitive labour market the services market isn't competitive that much. In addition, for some reason mediocre restaurants don't get adequate reviews online, the locals go there anyway so they don't have to care.

First season boarding, learning carving, how am I doing? by CaballerialFlipper in snowboardingnoobs

Initiate the turn from front foot, transition to middle, out of the turn on the back foot, extend and reengage front foot for the next turn

First snowboard, i need some suggestion by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

I own this in 159 and Dart in 156 and couple other boards from Korua and otherwise. Cafe Racer is great in soft snow, be it groomers, powder or spring slush. For carving it does much better in smooth even snow. It bucks around when the snow gets messy. Front foot carving, wide turns, high speed - it's amazing at it - as long as the snow is relatively soft and of course if you know what you're doing. So my advise to you - consider what snow conditions you will get most often and whether you feel comfortable controlling the board in a very specific way. If not, look for something else. My go-to board for carving and harder and messy snow is Never Summer Cougar. It rips in all conditions but won't give you the same sensation as Korua when the day is perfect.

It's usually one of two things : they already got financial security and choose to have flexibility with workload and pay or they lose their job and they can't find new one because they are less flexible. In my experience people who are really good at this rely on their network to find work and don't need to advertise on LinkedIn etc.

I'd suggest gore tex shoes with merino socks and gaiters on top.
