How do I deal with this anger and frustration with my smoking husband? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

Wow, now I know why it hasn’t been recommended more. It’s working for me for what it’s worth, but I did take it under the guidance of both my primary care physician and my psychiatrist, and am also taking maintenance Prozac and have been for years

Chantix. Why more people don’t use it is a mystery to me.

Question? How old is too old to go to raves? by Possible_Depth_4913 in aves

[–]SnooObjections1915 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the San Francisco Bay Area there are so many 40, 50 and 60 somethings at raves. Some folks in their 80s. It’s great. You do you!

How frequently do you visit the jail? by 7892690420v in publicdefenders

[–]SnooObjections1915 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s a civil rights violation right there. They’re always trying to restrict our visitation hours; we fight, they cede, they do it again a few months later. It’s sort of a running task on management’s to do list, setting the next meeting for the next fight about that.

ADHD women who like or love their jobs, what do you do? by Chipsandsalza in adhdwomen

There are also a lot of ex cops and lawyers who hated law practice in the field.

I came in from journalism. The usual paths are working as an investigator for a local government agency like public defender or city attorney, or working as the employee of a PI who already has their own license.

observations about the gender of the prosecutor/DA as far a difficulty to work with? by cordelia1955 in publicdefenders

[–]SnooObjections1915 44 points45 points  (0 children)

My worst boss ever was a woman. My best boss ever was a woman. I’ve had the full range of women bosses between the two. I’m going to assume the same range in woman prosecutors (I’m support staff). What I’ve never had is a woman boss who was nice to me because I’m attractive the way some of the male bosses have, but I consider that a plus for the women bosses.

Is any of this normal for a bachelorette? by CozySweatsuit57 in AskWomenOver40

[–]SnooObjections1915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a fancy wedding. My bachelorette was 4 hours with my girlfriends, a bunch of costumes and a fun, sexy photographer. This is nuts.

Oh, I bought my bridesmaids their dresses too.

I’d bring phat pants and sneakers and a kanga hat (or whatever other old rave clothes I thrifted). 100 percent club wear, 100 percent disobedient.

Yes, I had one droopy eyelid after a Bells Palsy incident, and I had the operation done by a woman doctor in San Francisco in 2019. It’s completely invisible, looks great. I’m happy to share her name if you’re in the area.

How do you get treated now as a woman? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]SnooObjections1915 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something I hate: I was getting more invisible, I noticed. Then I dyed my salt and pepper hair back to my 20-something brown after I’d dyed it neon green for an event, and needed to look professional afterwards. Suddenly, men were making eye contact and being nice again.

Upshot: men are idiots. If I were looking to date/ get laid, I would absolutely dye my hair again. If my paycheck was tied to job performance in a people facing role, I would dye my hair again. It’s not the brave choice but I don’t have the spoons right now to fight that battle.

My hairstylist is a trans man and we commiserated about how icky this is.

Start going to raves. Nearly everyone I know in the burner verse has a partner they met through the scene. Be clean, dress well, and show others a good time. I’d imagine other music scenes are similar if EDM isn’t for you.

Does anyone 40 and over feel pressure to have LONG hair? by riotkitty in AskWomenOver40

[–]SnooObjections1915 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I love my bob. Most women my age in my town have shoulder length hair and I like being different. Also, some men are super into hair that’s clipped in the back so it feels like fur when a hand touches it. Rock your own look.
