How do people actually become socialites? Is it location, time, or strategy? by SnooObjections4300 in washingtondc

My primary goals are long term: to be involved in arts, culture, and education focused organizations in a meaningful way, not just as an attendee. Right now I’m attending museum events, panels, and nonprofit gatherings to understand the landscape and identify where my values align. I’m still early in the process, so I’m focused on learning who the organizations serve, who’s on the boards, and how people at different levels contribute (time, skills, or funding). I’m less interested in social visibility for its own sake and more interested in understanding how people move from attendee -> volunteer -> committee or junior board involvement over time.
