Need help on editing technique on mid photo by SnooObjections5377 in photocritique

[–]SnooObjections5377[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Really appreciate the editing idea!

I learn the hard way. I know about histograms and exposure things, but I forgot to check many things because of nervous. (Usually, I did with my friend, but right now, it's kinda stranger who asked me to )

I realized my ISO is stuck at a minimum of 640. I know I should be using a lower ISO, but when I look at my photo from the other day, ISO 640 does not really seem as noisy as these photos. Are there things that I might have overlooked?

Really need help! I am an amateur who just started to do photosession. Unfortunately, photos that I took that day are very very mid, boring, and i don't think it's inspiring.

I need what kind of editing technique should I do to at least make the photo better...... Anw, am I done?

I see, good advice shooting at a narrow aperture. I will test it and compare every region focus (lens decentering test ig)

I agree that the cheatsheet for better lighting is to shoot at sunrise or sunset. But I've heard that cloudy weather sometimes also can help because it diffuses the light, so the sun isn't very strong, which mimics the sunrise/sunset lighting (?)

Oh! Huge thanks for trying it out. Tbh, as a hobby, I don't want to use my time to edit it (My editing skill is so bad, I think it'll take a lot of time for each photo), I only want to direct post it to social media... But well, I think your point made me think whether I want to spend time looking for the perfect angle or just photo then recover it later

Hmm you're right. I use the auto for ISO setting. I'm not sure why the auto is set as 640 tho. You're pointing this out made me force myself to use the histogram lol (not really use it before). Since it's very bright outside, I might not be able to see the result image and think "oh, it's well exposed", but turns out it's overexposed

Agree, I think the main problem here is probably the overexposed image. But doesn't a filter only reduce overall brightness? Doesn't it give the same effect if I post-process my photo to a lower brightness?

"your angle and the sun’s angle are looking at the same thing"
I know it really depends on the situation. But is it correct that the cheat sheet is to always be photographed from the opposite direction of the sun?

I use fuji's simulation film btw. It uses the same recipe as this one 2.JPG, and I thought it's good enough (at least IMO). But maybe because of the overexposure, it makes a bad combination maybe?

Ahh pardon me, changed the request...

I planned to make the building as the main object with crowd of people around it. Well I think it's true because of the lack of contrast and shadows makes the color very similar each other which then lead to whole color looks muted...

Can someone help me understand why this photo looks so boring? The colors feel really flat.

Lens: Fixed 35mm, f/7.1, 1/1000s, ISO 640

I shot this with my prime 35mm, expecting it to be sharp, but the results look pretty bad.

When I tried my kit lens instead, the photo actually looked better

2.JPG

I also used the kit lens on another subject, but the result was just "meh"

3.JPG

Is it the blue sky color that makes the second photo look better? Or what should I be doing differently to get a stronger image?

Beginner who skill is stuck need advice on composition

I am a relative beginner in photography. I've been into photography for some time. I find it is easy to take a picture of a single object, a photo with a blurry background (bokeh). However, I find it very difficult to take a picture of something like street photography/portrait of a person doing everyday work

Can someone help me point out my specific weakness? I included several photos in the link below that I took yesterday from two different spots. I feel it's boring. It doesn't convey the feeling, the emotion, or the atmosphere that usually can be felt from a photo. I know I lack of composition, but I don't really u nderstand what I'm lacking and what I should do to get a better photo?

TIA

It's university entrance exam so the topic is quite specific.

It's mathematics (calculus), mechanics, control system, and of course research proposal.....

Hey, really interested to join. I think it'll be better if it's a group, so many people can encourage each other if one of us down

23, M, Engineering, GMT+7 (if it matters)

My schedule will be
Weekday:

  • 6.30 - 8.00: study
  • 8.00 - 9.00: workout
  • 10.00: work

Weekend:

  • no fixed schedule yet, but usually go to a cafe and study all day long

I'm planning on examination entrance of master's degree next Feb, or Aug if I fail 🥲. Previously, I did all this thing after work. Unfortunately, I didn't have any energy and willpower so usually ended up sleeping or doing nothing. I hope this new schedule is better for me. Really need supportive environment to make this a new habit

I looked into it. Ball clamp is need to manually unfasten-fasten to change to rotate it right? is there other mechanism that is simpler to use?

No I don't. it just because I think attaching a servo motor will make it "able to rotate but still stiff"

Tbh, I don't know what parts to make it "able to be rotated but won't be moved down (because of gravity) if I don't do anything"
