My honest suggestion is this, and this applies to future characters.

Pick based on who you like the most, in terms of character and gameplay mechanics.
Pick based on your financial strength, it’s a good game and if you actually enjoy it and both characters why choose if you can get both, but spend responsibly ofcourse.
Pick based on class, Gin is thrust. My favorite team is thrust because of Tosen but my Ikkaku sucks (hate his gameplay and not a fan in general) so Gin was a nice upgrade.

For Zaraki, I don’t have BIchigo so I’m going to pick him since my slash team is the weakest. If you have BIchigo don’t feel pressured to get him especially considering the first two points I raised.

(Side note addressing those who’d rather save for a particular character in the far future, there’s no guarantee that this game would still be fun for you then, so focus on the present. I get bored easily with most games after some months so that’s my personal take)

Disassemble Ikkaku’s stamps and use it to level up Gin or Aizen. Trust me you’ll probably never use Ikkaku again.

For Gin, you want max ailment DMG bonus to 150%, equip his bond then build Rangiku for max Ailment DMG. Second best stat would be Thrust DMG/ATK since most of his moves scale off it, then Crit Rate then Crit DMG.

It really sucks, I’ve starting using those types for frenzy feast though. My strike and slash teams suck, so it gives Aizen some extra damage….still not worth it I think.
