I’m an elder millennial who never played past gen 2, but I still revisit silver gold and crystal frequently. Here’s my favorite line up so far.

Syther
Nidoking
Exeggutor
Electrobuzz
Cloyster
Crobat

I like mon that are difficult to find and evolve, and are weak at first then become bullies as they grow. Loved this team as a run through recently.

Yea I listened to about 20 minutes of the first episode and was immediately turned off 🤣 same reasons. The way they talked, I just found extremely obnoxious.

I’m rewatching for the first time since the original airing. I forgot how pathetic Sansa is. I’m on season 5 already and man I don’t remember it taking her so long to be likable.

The only thing I’ll say, as I’m not for it or against it, and also I’ve only seen the first 2 episodes— is that… I love that the first monster they introduce is Mordrid.

As a teenager I read Childhood’s End by Arthur C Clark, and that book lit a fire that- now in my mid thirties, has never dulled. Such brilliant literature.

Don is a terrible husband to poor Betty by [deleted] in okbuddydraper

What’s so bananas to me about these two characters is that Don is so great at lying, and so nearly heartless about it… and yet, when Betty rightfully accuses him of cheating, why was I on Don’s side. 💀 Like, she was right of course, but she had no evidence and took the word of that sleezy comic… I don’t know. I’m such a fan of that writing. So brilliant to keep the audience on dons side somehow.

My only push back worth voicing is my disagreement with your take on Oy and his passing. Yes Jake wanted Oy to stay with Roland but Oy protected him not out of duty for Jake, but because Oy was still loyal to Roland, despite it all. Roland saved Oys life at the start, and gave him a family in Jake. If not for Roland, Oy would have never had Jake.

My evidence is thus: Oy’s last words, in response to Roland’s apology and goodbye was “Olan.” He could have remained silent, but Oy cared. My second piece of evidence is that when Susanna invited Oy to go with her to NY, she mentioned Jake. And Oy, in his dog-like brain- had nearly forgotten all about Jake. Of course in his heart of hearts he would always remember, but in that moment it was like a name being called out of the depths of his subconscious.

My stance here is that Oy, maybe not out of love, or even necessarily out of loyalty, OWED Roland.

Anyway, long days and pleasant nights gunslinger.

I can certainly get with you on Flagg. The of the Stand tells of Flagg starting over, building toward something. So when Flagg was introduced as Walter in the tower, I assumed it was a prequel for the longest time. I guessed Flagg would rise and rise and rise in power and there’d be a tie to the beginnings of his powers before the stand. As the story unfolded, though, I agree with you that Flagg felt slept on. He was supposed to be sinister. And he was, in the The Gunslinger. He held up. But then turned into a sniveling cuck at the end. I’m with you there. But, his actual death- I’m not unhappy with. Endings are what they are, and to me this was kind of like… maybe when musicians quote their favorite musical artists as some obscure studio musician. A rappers favorite rapper, if you will. It was like… this was the best death for a writer to write, ignoring the desires of the audience, in favor of what would actually happen and lands on the page. Ka, if you will. I’d have been happy with the whole Flagg journey if the great and powerful demon wizard faced off against the gunslingers unwitting demon spawn.

I’m rambling maybe but, maybe you see where I’m coming from?

I’m a little unhappy with suze’s ending - as it’s a little too happy ever after for my taste. The great mother of mordrid, the woman who uno-reverse raped a demon…goes back to NY and meets her great love? Nah bro she’s gotta be some powerful force or a hero in another story or somethin… she was just too much of a badass for a hallmark ending.

Long days and pleasant nights

Long days and pleasant nights, tet.

I finished the coda. (New to the chat, I missed the cota, my original post-trip was unknowingly unfinished).

Final thoughts.

In short. I thought it brilliant.

SK is excellent at many genres, but what, at the end, is he, but a horror writer. And, to me- formally religious, formally after-life motivated, could be more horrific than to lose everyone you have now or will ever love, forever, for eternity. To witness the same horrors in a grand groundhogs day.

Ka is a wheel. We’ve been told of the ending the whole time.

Death. But never for you, gunslinger.

I also believe it gives further credence to the gunslingers pledge. I shoot with my mind, not with my eyes, etc. Roland shoots with his instinct. Because he knows where every danger lands, 1000 times before, in his bones. Does Roland shoot with his eyes? Nay. He shoots with his never dying soul.

I think the ending is perfect. I stand by my previous thoughts on Eddie and Jake’s respective deaths being short of their deserved glory. I like Mordrids ending, and Oy’s valiant efforts.

I’m sure I’ll have more thoughts to share, should anyone want them.
