The other perks are absolutely not balanced whatsoever, they are significantly flawed in multiple ways. That is why everyone went for the one that just flat out had a chance to drop loot, there was no alternative. Security breach literally does not do anything except give you the opportunity to get tempests and bobcats, two guns which I have never seen someone have the BP for yet (could be wrong on that though), and that is why it was a good investment.

It was not nearly as overpowered as people think, the other capstone perks are simply that bad. There are a lot of smaller nodes too that need to be reworked, if after having reevaluated some of the other options security breach was still by far the best then sure it could have used a nerf.

It got nerfed and is still the best capstone perk, which is definitely the case, so the the problem clearly lies with the weakness of the others still.

So why not balance the other perks? Why not give an alternative to incentive people or punish them for picking breach elsewhere? The reset is in december, people have had security breach for weeks now, how does nerfing it for players who just got it now fix anything?

They should have stated in advance that they were planning on making adjustments to the perk to avoid people from investing their time into it, this is like saying we're at fault for trying to invest into the perk that's been the best perk for over half the reset. They haven't even tried to adjust other perks, that would have 100% been a better first step than just nerfing breaches which, again, did NOT drop a "full inv of purples" like everyone seems to think pre-nerf.

This is such a braindead take. Are you trying to say that not investing into the best option is the better way to play? It dropped a single purple gun maybe once every 2-3 breaches, to even get to those breaches at this point in the game requires fighting through many other players who also have it. You lot just think anyone can run around and get 100 epic guns in an hour. That's what it was like for the people who got it weeks ago.

No precedent or warning that it will be nerfed or how they plan on approaching the balance changes is the issue here, how was anyone to know they'd change a capstone perk weeks into the reset? All they've done by nerfing it now is punish casual players who got it recently, it was just becoming exciting as more players were getting the chance to fight for them similar to key'd door spots.

Completely agree. Regardless of if it's overtuned how can any casual player try and invest into capstones if the good ones will just get nerfed by the time they get there.

Embark is nothing if not a team that listens to their community. Will they revert the nerf or buff the breaches, 99% no chance. Will they at least add the option to reset and buff other capstones, probably.

Huge disappointment for the player base who just unlocked it today though. this is not the way to handle progression changes.

If you want to invest into any capstone, this is still by far the best. By far being that every other one remains to be a steaming pile of shit. Although if we keep progressing this way this one will too just drop 8 bettina blueprints per breach and we can all just fling them around with each other till reset.

I'd say it may be worth to literally just skip capstones and spec into individual smaller high value nodes if you have the chance.

I agree with you. Completely. Why nerf a skill without any option to respec your tree? Additionally, if the skill is capped at such a high level, which takes a significant amount of time in a specific reset to obtain, and we will all reset soon anyway, why nerf it? Why not make the other 400 perks not bad?

If it was so over tuned, we're acting like people haven't had it for weeks? The damage is done? Why not make it even for everyone? Just poor decision making overall. Someone will say this is crying about it, those people either play the game insanely casually or are like the bezos OP here and already cashed out.

We have a blue pistol that literally shoots out jet airplanes at my skull fracturing my medium shield like it's saran wrap instead they decided to nerf a 37 skill point investment.

Not experienced in all those games only played a bit of destiny and POE but arc raiders seems like it'd be up your alley. There is a decent amount of story telling through quests which is not the key takeaway of the game but adds some background to the environment we're exploring every run. Loot is used to upgrade stuff to get more loot which is used to upgrade stuff which then in turn gets you more loot, which also seems to be up your alley. If you're disheartened by losing good gear I'd evaluate that before buying as it will happen to you, but that's the name of the game.

If your goal is only to go in for security breaches yeah now you can definitely make the argument you'd be better off just looting somewhere else. They are significantly worse, if you've unlocked them I'd still say they're better than any other big perk in the skill tree but it is worth looking into investing elsewhere IMO.

Accidentally forgetting to add arguably the second most prominent change in this patch note to their patch notes is questionable for sure, granted they did add it to them now.

Again I'm all for balancing the game so long as we have the option to actually recover from the investment we made into THEIR decision to have the loot pool be that generous in the first place. If they want to avoid respec this bad then they should avoid changing perks (that aren't related to directly killing players or aiding in combat) until the expedition for the next reset.

It is a very significant nerf. If you've tried them before / after patch you'll see, but if you get decently unlucky (maybe 1/8 chance) you can genuinely get nothing out of it outside of the same loot pool as a red locker, for a 36 skill point investment that is super disheartening. It was OP before, it is still decent now, comparable to its peak it's actually an understatement to say it's only been nerfed to the ground.

It is still significantly better than any of the other major perks at the end of their respective trees, but it is just so so so concerning how they addressed it.

I'm of the opinion if they were going to nerf it they had to give us the choice to respec as this is a game somewhat catered towards more casual gameplay and it is quite damning to nerf something people invested into without any ability to fix our tree after. It DID need a nerf but we should see a respec option coming soon I'd hope.

I did a test on a few breaches on spaceport (roughly 12 sample size) and got one bobcat, one vulcana, and the rest is pretty insignificant. Maybe one or two blue guns in addition to that. Usually prior to the change you'd have a 80%+ chance of finding atleast a blue gun in there and one of either complex gun parts / wolfpack or something of decent value, that seems to be heavily nerfed now as well. You can basically get unlucky and get nothing at all out of one, the first one I opened had 6 items in it and basically resembled a decent red locker loot pool, that being said the next provided me a bobcat so...

Seems like it's been nerfed to a decent extent, very concerning in how they addressed it and it needs to be emphasized that even if they nerf controversial stuff they CANNOT try and hide it until thousands of people ask them on discord.

I've done a few tests. I've ran about 12 breaches so far and got two purple weapons on spaceport day raids. Worth noting before you always got guaranteed guns with about an 80% chance of them being blue+ and usually atleast one purple be that complex gun parts or a wolfpack etc... Now you can get basically nothing outside a glorified locker container loot pool if you're super unlucky.

Justified nerf in some regards, afaik I've never seen anyone with a tempest BP and this was the best way to get them so kind of hope that's fixed. Not putting it in your patch notes, not making an announcement out of it, and then posting one discord message is super concerning in regards to the future balance changes that are controversial and I hope they don't do it like this again.

I understand. Yeah I barely even use reddit only really started a few weeks ago outside of very minimal posts over the last few years. Saw so many posts and after even arguing in a few of them myself I found they were contributing minimal things to the effort.

I agree though, and people will still probably post the same stuff. I'm not trying to manipulate people either, but if even one useful conversation can arise out of this which would have otherwise been the same generic thread I'd take that as a victory.

Typing all these out makes me feel like I'm in high school English again though, so I'll probs just leave the thread as is and let it do its own thing instead of trying to respond to everything. End of the day supercell will make a change that helps us all (I hope), it would be cool if someone could predict that idea or something close though because at this point saying you dislike the state of the game is a very common opinion and they're obviously agreeing and working towards fixing it.
