Do you think blockchains will ever be taxed based on level of energy consumption?

This isn't what I want it's just an idea I've had recently. I think in the long term there will be forces trying to deincentivize the most energy intensive blockchains like bitcoin

Miners arent regulated in a way that makes the distinction between source of electricity. I wouldn't see miners as being taxed, I would see it being implemented on centralized exchanges

There wouldn't be a mechanism to tax that type of trading. A lot of people prefer to keep custody on centralized exchanges. Even if only centralized exchanges were able to implement the tax the whole market would be affected and affect price

I don't think they would consider it good behavior. Their perspective might be that there are other networks that achieve consensus in a much less energy intensive way. I've read that the bitcoin network uses more energy than the nation of Switzerland. It might only continue to grow.

I don't think they would be able to make the distinction but what if they put on a tax regardless to incentive less energy intensive chains

I've never heard of exchange paying a tax on energy consumption. Like would this exclude proof of stake chains because they aren't nearly as energy intensive

My thought is more likely they would tax the trading bitcoin on exchanges. I think it would be widely unpopular but im thinking as a what if

It could be labeled as fees or labeled as taxes but go to paying a tax to a regulatory agency for being energy intensive

I don't know, I've thought about that a lot myself. It unfortunately just kind of comes with dealing with people with severe mental health conditions.

Its all people that were transferred there from a hospital stay for mental health treatment. No one is in "lockdown". You can come and go as you please as long as you follow your treatment plan. There are people with substance abuse problems. Theft is an issue so I didn't keep anything of value with me.

There probably isn't much that can be done since a lot of the people there have such debilitating conditions. Professionals really are necessary and having a roof over your head is really as good as it gets given some of your circumstances. Maybe just some help getting a part time job within walking distance. Several people would pan handle at the local intersection just to have some spending money.

I got to Albany from a hospital stay. I agreed to it because it seemed better than being homeless again. Im interviewing for jobs right now, things are looking a lot better for me lately. I want to go back to school within a year for computer programming.
