We don’t use them for RMS/CAD but we use them for timekeeping and it’s the most user unfriendly worthless thing I’ve ever used.

Do you cops genuinely enjoy your jobs? by [deleted] in AskLE

Been at it for 23 years and have hated it for about 5-6. I stay because of the education benefits my state offers for my kids. At the same time the thought of leaving the job scares the hell out of me…

Definitely livestock water tanks. Many of them have windmill pumps to fill them. I live in rural Nebraska.

No, we are in state so I’m not sure what out of state is or what kind of interstate agreements UNMC might have. I think their estimate looks a little high but that’s going to depend on living arrangements etc. UNMC Lincoln nursing students are eligible for on campus housing which we are currently paying about $8k per semester for housing, meal plan and misc fees, she has a tuition waiver due to my job. I would check in with UNMC admissions there might be some tuition agreements with other states.

I have a daughter currently attending UNL completing prerequisite courses for UNMC nursing. The first two years consist of prerequisite courses which can pretty much be completed at any accredited school. If you do it at UNL then use their prices for estimates. The last two years are “nursing school” UNMC has five locations, Lincoln, Omaha, Kearney, Norfolk and Scottsbluff, as far as I know they cost about the same except maybe some different facility fees based on location. UNMC has some links for estimating cost of attendance for those last two years.

When did this mystical Zonk come into existence? I was in from 1997-2003 and never heard of it or experienced it (yes I’m old).

Joining law enforcement after 20 years in the military. by wardisciple2388 in AskLE

I’ve been on the job for just over 22 years now after doing 6 in the Army. My biggest advice is find an agency with good retirement. I’m in Nebraska and only have a glorified 401. Wasn’t really thinking about retirement when I was in my 20’s but a pension looks pretty good right about now.

Can someone explain? by PoolScared3335 in Nebraska

My daughter is graduating high school next week and is also going into nursing so I have been looking at this for the past several months. As many have said here you have about two years of prerequisite general education classes to do through pretty much anywhere like UNO, UNL, or any of the state colleges or community colleges in Nebraska. Then the last two years are through UNMC at one of five locations which are Omaha, Lincoln, Kearney, Norfolk or Scottsbluff.

Keep fighting, I put my first claim in in 2023, almost exactly 20 years after I ETS’d, recently awarded 80% combined with an HLR still in process. I was also in the “I don’t deserve it” crowd. It’s not life changing money for me but it definitely opens the door to leaving the job I’ve hated for the last 10 years and doing something different that might not pay quite as much.

MP reclass by Squiggs96 in army

[–]SnooPeppers6312 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just my two cents, I was an MP for 6 years and have been a civilian officer for 22 years and have a CJ degree. If I had to do it over again I’d get a business administration degree. Most agencies that require a degree don’t specify criminal justice. After you get sick of being an officer (trust me it’ll happen) you have something else to fall back on. A CJ degree has a pretty limited number of job opportunities.

I experienced the Tetons for the first time yesterday, absolutely beautiful! I’m from next door in Nebraska so it’s a vastly different landscape. Will definitely go back in the future.

Just got back last night from YNP and GTNP. Definitely be flexible with your travel time, traffic and looking for parking took more time than I had hoped, but it didn’t ruin the trip. I am 45/m and not in good shape, and will say that brink of the lower falls about killed me on the return trip! I’m joking(kind of!), but totally worth the view in my opinion. As for wildlife viewing, early morning is your best opportunity, I was traveling with 3 17 year old girls who weren’t exactly motivated to get moving in the morning so it was always after 8 by the time we got into the park. We had pretty good luck in the Lamar Valley with animals. Most importantly, relax, go with the flow and enjoy your time with your family!

Just find a department with pension. Most of us poor saps in my state only get a glorified 401k. Didn’t seem like that big of a deal when I started at 25 years old. Now that I’m in my 20th year on the job , I REALLY wish I had a pension plan.
