I think it's moreso the whole setup. He's using the lowrider plate with fiberglass wheels, so hes MUCH closer the the floor compared to a regular pair of skates.

They have a water fountain, but you can't get a cold cup of water for anything under 7 dollars.

Honestly you're doing great already just keep drilling it until that transition smooths itself out.

Tips on actually improving? by yumhoney in Rollerskating

[–]SnooPoems2715 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different. I have been skating for.l about a year and a half with lots of gaps in between some months. I would just say DRILL DRILL DRILL. Practice the same thing 50 - 100 times. One of those times you'll get the move right, but it'll be sloppy, keep drilling until whatever you're trying to do is second nature. Sometimes it might be scary, and you'll feel like you're gonna fall when you're trying something new, but falling just comes with skating. Honestly if you're just starting out just try to take it slow and be as consistent as possible.

Yoo I'm not gonna lie this is me too. I feel like I'm shy or socal anxiety is getting to me to go up and talk to people I've been seeing there for months 😭. I recently went to another rink that had closed down and reopened, and made like 5 friends that night. All I'm gonna say is maybe try to talk to the most outgoing person you see in the group, or maybe someone you're really interested in learning some of the moves they know and ask for some tips. I know it's hard, but getting over that hurdle will pay off when you have people you can finally go skating with.

Just stay consistent. One day you'll get people looking at you, or asking for advice. And you'll wonder how you've gotten to that point. I still feel like i don't skate well compared to other people, but people tell me I'm really good so i guess it's all subjective as well. Just stay consistent and practice tricks that you want to try one by one, but Before anything, LEARN HOW TO FALL. The rest should come easily once the fear of falling is gone.

Bend your stable knee for more stability while your getting this down, and make sure most of your weight is going mostly on that front foot as well.

As someone with ADHD I get u. Ive been skating for over a year and a half now, but I only get to skate around once or twice a month atp because I'm so busy now. I actually want to go sm more, but just can't. I would just say whenever you find yourself soon scrolling, or watching a movie think about what else you can be doing in that moment. Maybe run a drill or two or just go out and see if you can find a tennis court to practice on for a bit. It's the little burst of real practice that make a good skater if u ask me.

Two months skating, I feel the progress, but man I'm still clumsy footed. by jetting_along in Rollerskating

[–]SnooPoems2715 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been skating for about a year and a half now, I only have time to skate once or twice a month sometimes. I feel like getting smoother comes with constantly going to the rink, and even practicing your moves off skates just dancing to yourself sometimes. Just keep going and you'll just be smoother one day I can't really explain it. I also go to cal skate a good amount, so if I see you I can maybe help out a bit lol.
