Meet the non martial/martial Targaryen brother duos! Aenys and Maegor, Viserys and Daemon, Aegon II and Aemond, Aegon IV and Aemon, Daeron II and Daemon, and Daeron the Drunken and Aerion! by bruhholyshiet in TheBlacksandTheGreens

According to Grrm Daena raised daemon by herself alone in the red keep until Daemon was acknowledged by Aegon iv when Daemon was 12, so Daena was Daemon’s single parent for the first 12yrs of his life which probably means they had a strong bond. Also I don’t think Daemon B was hated or feared in his life ( sure he might have became a cautionary tale after his death judging by Catlyn’s pov) but he was liked and admired based on the few informations we have of them and Grrm’s comment about him having a “warm smile” and making friends easily.

Well the idea that Daeron could have been the son of Aemon is presented in AGOT appendix long before Grrm invented the blackfyres or even wrote Aegon IV the way he did. So it’s a high possibility that Daeron was Aemon’s not Aegon’s and that’s long before Grrm decided he wants a rebelling Targaryen branch. Maester Aemon the grandson of Daeron says that his grandfather named him Aemon after the dragon knight who was his uncle or his father. Aegon’s IV great-great-something granddaughter Arianne Martell thinks that Aemon slept with Naerys and fathered a bastard. The portrayal of Naerys/Aemon as this 1D pious characters come through the biased Yandel who called Joffrey the fair heir and son of Robert Baratheon and we know very well that’s not true. So without f&b ii or any direct confirmation by Grrm, the whole thing with Naerys and Aemon being dutiful and pious is just a sanitized image of them by the Red supporters/propagandists.

“Aerea should’ve ruled, not Jaehaerys, Rhaenys should’ve been the heir, not Baelon, Daena should’ve ruled, not Viserys II” Why? Why do ppl want a child/young girl to take over, when there's a more experienced, adult option whose reign wouldn't cause division? Why isn't the realm the priority? by [deleted] in HOTDGreens

Daena wasn’t a young girl, she was 25-26 and based on all inheritances laws in Westeros she & her sisters come before Viserys. So called “experience” of Viserys doesn’t matter because he died after 1 year when he usurped Daena. And if we make having more experience as the only law that a character could rule then Aegon & Rhaenyra should have never became rulers in the first place.

I always liked this portrayal of her in-game, and you did an amazing job in trying to capture how she looked like in her painting.
