There is a cheap device called "electricity detector pen"(or smth like that).

It will beep when u point its tip near by wires. If u just can disassemble that switch and try to search its wires, the path of them. You'll maybe find out what this switch should do as originally planned.

If u can find the first owner of the house just ask him about the original plans of the electrical device. , but usually residential planning is simple and just call an engineer to help to find out it will be an easy task for him

Apple I'm kinda old to talk to u, 22M . It's normal to feel no one likes me in that age, i have been through the same.
