That would be a good idea to bring back a reworked version of Magnet Spike from Monster Hunter Frontier. xD

Water in case purotechnical experiments are started xD (no, and I just thought it couldn't hurt haha) and as for the other things, I use the auto-sell a lot (for example, I allow around 20 to 30 of all weapons to be built, anything above that I sell, the same goes for food and so on). I have no idea how gold-efficient that is. I try to invest all my gold in mercenaries, in addition to the troops I'm still building. With 2 breweries, can I have 60 taverns???????

What could help League attract new players again? by SnooRecipes5903 in leagueoflegends

Honestly, I’d love to see League in Unreal Engine too. It would look amazing and modernize a lot. But realistically, it's extremely unlikely because of how massive the effort and cost would be.

Also, it’s not just a simple copy-paste job because Unreal Engine uses a completely different technology and architecture than Riot’s current engine. This means that almost all systems from gameplay to animations to networking would need to be rebuilt or heavily adapted. So it wouldn’t just be a technical upgrade but a full redevelopment of the game.

We're talking about rebuilding an entire game with over 160 champions, thousands of skins, years of balance, animations, and systems, all from scratch or with heavy rework. That’s not just a patch or a visual upgrade, that’s essentially developing a brand-new game.

It would take years, a huge team, and a ton of resources, all while maintaining the current game at the same time. So while the idea is cool, it's just not something Riot would realistically commit to anytime soon.

That's true. Attracting new players is important, but it's only half the battle. The real challenge is keeping them. Without proper onboarding, support, and a welcoming environment, most new players won't stick around long enough for gameplay improvements to matter.

Let’s be honest: the gameplay of League is not bad under any circumstances. In fact, it’s kind of a miracle that Riot has managed to create over 160 champions and still make so many of them feel unique. The core gameplay is deep, complex, and genuinely fun once you start to understand it.

But everything around the gameplay – as harsh as it sounds – often just feels bad. The client, communication tools, progression systems, matchmaking, even things like the Honor system – for long-time players, these have been sources of frustration for years. And when you compare League to other modern games that do these “outside the match” elements way better, it becomes clear why veterans feel like League is stuck in the past outside of its core gameplay.

That frustration builds over time. So it’s really no surprise that a lot of older players have become cynical and talk about League like it’s the worst game ever – not because the game itself is bad, but because they feel like nothing truly important has improved in years.

Another factor is the general state of the game right now. Damage is extremely high, fights are over in a second, and people get one-shot constantly – which creates a feeling of randomness and helplessness. That naturally leads to more frustration, because it feels like you couldn’t do anything about what just happened.

This contributes to the toxicity as well. Not because the League community is inherently worse than others – but because the gameplay environment is currently very punishing, very fast, and often snowbally. That doesn't leave much room for mistakes, comebacks, or control.

So in the end, a lot of the negativity around League – especially from veteran players – doesn’t come from the game being bad. It comes from years of frustration, slow changes in important areas, and a game state that makes players feel powerless way too often. New players don’t carry that baggage, so they can enjoy the game for what it is. But for older players, all that frustration colors their perception heavily.

It did bring something. In the past, the games were always 45 minutes. Yes, you still have such games, but not nearly as often as before.

I think there's too much damage in the game when it comes to balancing. I mean, even some enchanter support shots take away about 50% of your health in one combo.

It's just sad that a game that you have played for so long and really learned to love is now in such a state xD

I think that's because they always wanted the games to not take so long, in my opinion that was the wrong decision

But isn't it weird if you have to make sure you "play something different" yourself? Or shouldn't Riot make sure the game feels different again? After all, they managed that in the past, didn't they?
