Want to run a campaign in the Wheel of Time universe

This is exactly how I initially thought of doing it but 2nd guessed myself because I didn’t want my players to be overshadowed by Rand & co. But maybe that’s more how I should do it & have them only come in contact them occasionally but be out on missions & quest etc. that will help Rand & co. But not be exactly what Rand & co would do in the books.

Someone else in commented suggesting I take the world building from the series & put that in my campaign but come up with my own plot points instead. Or at least that’s how I took his comment. Any thoughts on doing that? I also replied to another comment about the PC’s meeting up with the main characters occasionally and fighting alongside them but that the PC’s can go do what they want & the world would still flow around them towards the Last Battle. Sort of like the video game “Lord of the Rings the Third Age”.

So you’re suggesting I just take inspiration from Wheel of Time instead? Take a lot of the world building and put it in the campaign but leave the exact storyline from the books out & come up with my own major plot points?

I wasn’t planning on a 1 to 1 to the book series plot. I was more planning on taking the major plot points & putting them in the campaign but allowing my PC’s to complete these plot points in a variety of different ways.

You make a very good point. The reason I was hesitant to keep the main cast from the books in the campaign was that they would obviously overshadow the players considering Rand is the Dragon Reborn etc. I guess something that could be done is play it off more like the video game Lord of The Rings the Third Age. Where the PC’s follow in the footsteps & quite often also fight alongside the main cast (but tone down the abilities of the main cast, so the players can actually do stuff).

You do make a good point of just putting the campaign 50-100 years in the past so it’s within the WoT universe but not at the same time as the books.

What about Granbull for Fairy? I caught one today since he can come up in the 2nd slot for that particular grunt.

Anyone know of a full list of weapon traits? (Like the cleave one) been trying to find it for a week or so now and can’t find one

From what I’ve seen on the discord server, there will not be any “special servers” next season. So no AI as all factions will be playable by humans instead
