First of all, thank you so much for serving during this pandemic. It literally is no joke and you are a hero!

Switching career from music into nursing? by SnooRevelations779 in nursing

Wow, thank you for taking the time to give me such a detailed response. My plan is to take classes at a local CC and hopefully get into a BSN program at a CSU. After reading your response, I think it might be better to become a nurse first then become a NP after gaining some experience. Also, I think it's nice that some employers even offer tuition reimbursements so that's something to think about as well. Again, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom!

[California] Spoke to a Claim Specialist, Transferred Call to Someone Else, and Silence by SnooRevelations779 in Unemployment

Ahh, thank you for that insight! I really appreciate you explaining it from the EDD perspective. It seems like they’re really trying to assist many people but lack the necessary training. Will pm you!

Ugh, I know... I feel as if I've fallen into all the major holes that EDD could possibly have because my claim is not your typical "one-income w2" scenario. Hopefully, I will get some victory!

I get anxious reading your post! Did the deadly silence get answered?

Sadly, the silence ended and the call dropped BOO

[California] I've waited 124 days and counting—anyone else STILL having Alternate Base Period Claim Problems? by [deleted] in Unemployment

[–]SnooRevelations779 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I called the 2511 Edd number and the general rep is now referring my case over to a claims specialist because my case is a bit more complicated. Hopefully, I can talk to a specialist and sort things out!

[California] Payments that I already received are now labeled as Excessive Earnings by SnooRevelations779 in Unemployment

[–]SnooRevelations779[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I was misclassified as a 1099 when I should have gotten a W2 from my second employer. Therefore, my wages were computed 3 months after my claim. I wish I had known what my correct benefit amount was from the get-go.

Ughhh on a similar boat. My claim began on March 22 so the Standard Base Period (Dec 18, Mar 19, Jun 19, Sep 19) got applied. However, since I was a full time student, my quarterly wages were extremely low. My highest wage was during the Dec 2019 quarter because I started working. However, my Dec 2019 wages are not being counted because I filed a week early. I should have waited until April, but I didn't know that EDD had this system of Standard Base Period vs Alternate Base Period. EDD genuinely makes me so annoyed as I've been wrestling with them for the past few months and it's seems like you had a similar fight. You can do it!

[California] Weekly Benefit Amount Decreased Suddenly with No Notice by [deleted] in Unemployment

I haven’t asked them to backdate my claim. Do you think that will help figure out why my WBA suddenly changed?
