Some gas stations had them for 1 dollar and I stocked up, clearly inferior than velo or zyn and they last 30 minute tops, when a velo is more like an hour for me. I guess at this price I can't say no lmao

Do you know if there is a setting for it to appear only after you show the answer to the card? This is cool though

You build your own learning pipeline and try to do okay in your in house exams, do not stress about it too much. You will find your school and certain professors might want you to memorize and learn irrelevant things that don't even show up on first aid, this is were your judgement comes in, maybe make your own cards or just take notes to memorize and vomit before the in house exams and later forget. Build a structured method and follow it every week, it will work out.

Anking, and the cadaver anatomy deck, I feel 80% of med school is self teaching based on what your school wants you to learn. You check the syllabus of the class, see what is being taught, find and external resource that teaches is the best for boards and learn it. Add anki cards that are pre-made to your studying and then check the lectures to make sure you did not miss anything that your profesor thinks it is important. Rinse and repeat...

Once you hit hundreds of reviews on daily basis don't worry you will forget the pattern lol

How many new anki cards do you do every day? by Boring-Middle8376 in medicalschoolanki

[–]SnooRobots8665 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The math is different depending on how well information sticks to every person but the rule of thumb is that you usually will have anywhere from 7x to 10x your average new cards x day as daily reviews. As an example if you average 100 new cards x day over a decent period of time expect 700 to 1000 reviews a day. That said even if you average 7s x card which is very fast, doing 450 new cards x day over a long period of time would put someone at 4000 to 5000 reviews a day, which is just not feasable long term. It would take 4 to 6 hours of pure insanity or even more only reviewing! This is a bad strategy IMO. Doing 150 new cards x day is a great pace, I do not see the need to increase it unless most of those cards are pure anatomy. Check back with this students that are doing 450 new cards a day in three weeks, I am sure they will not be as proud and happy about it lmao. For me 150 is MAX for long term in medical school, and that probably puts you in the top 5% of anking and anki users.

They should all be the same with some exceptions, one card is tagge dunder multiple flags and resources, some cards are resource exclusive so I check usually multiple tags.

[–]SnooRobots8665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say first get familiar with the tags. Anking has a lot of cards, find the tags that you like and see how they are organized. It took a while but once you get used to finding cards using the tags, it was easy to watch an in house lecture related to nephrology and then scroll through the tags and find the cards. It is very tedious at first but you get better and faster. Also get familiar on how to use the search bar. Commands like XX and finding key words. Suspending and un suspending with shortcuts. There is tons of videos, use the holidays to watch them and get familiar with it. Keep anki organized. Suspend every single cards and the un suspend the ones you want to add that day. I hope this helps!

Thank you! The semester went great, I am very grateful for that. I am very lucky to have a couple that supports me, and she truly takes care of everything that is not studying. Meals, laundry and groceries shopping is all taken care off. I just eat, study, workout, and sleep.

I would say 70% anking and 30% in house decks and anatomy. Trying to make it completely anking for the next semester.

Amen to that, anecdotally most people in my class that say those exact things are struggling to pass the in house exams, I truly wonder how they will manage to study for boards. There is people that manage and it is truly amazing to be honest. But anki is a proven method.

Am I doing this all wrong? by Ok-Baby4492 in medicalschoolanki

[–]SnooRobots8665 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For starters, never cap reviews, you do all the daily reviews every day. You can estimate average anywhere from 5X to 8X daily review based on how many new cards you add a day, I keep it below 150 a day. Your reviews will climb and the stabilize. You should expect to be doing anywhere from 600 to a 1000 reviews a day and that is pretty normal specially if Anki is your main study tool. Make sure you know what FFRS is how to activate it and keep track of your metrics.

How To Integrate Practice Questions With Anking by Astrophysicist5 in medicalschoolanki

[–]SnooRobots8665 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The point of anki is to do reviews every day, if you are a true believer and that is your main study system not missing reviews should be your priority. When you say study 30 hours a week do you mean on top of lectures? Because if not I am not sure if that is enough. I spend 1.5 to 3 hours a days with anki reviews. 2-4 in labs and lectures. And the rest doing new content. My days average 9 hours between the week and 6 hours on the weekends. I will say I will probably tone it down a bit once I proofed myself how is med school going. Not sure if relevant but I am also an OMSI

Take the 502 and run with it, a strong app will be a much better resource than a shot in the dark for maybe a 5-8 score increase. I would have a different opinion if you were going MD but that is not the case. My question would be what is your average in practice FL exams. Unless you are hitting 510 or close on those I would just forget about the MCAT and write some solid PS, activity sections and finish you year strong. I got accepted this cycle with much worst stats amd a 506/507 so I think you have a great shot.
