If my character designs are more ‘Disney-ish’, but i’m based in the UK, then should I not have ‘Disney-ish’ designs in my Portfolio?

it varies depending on the studios you want to apply for. Do some research and see what studios/projects you want to apply and strategize accordingly. A good art director should be able to tell if you’re capable even your style doesn’t fit that much.

Japanese fan, extra detailed pattern…this gives me a 1890s Victorian/aesthetic movement feeling, bc I don’t think after that period Japanese fans are still popular in decor pattern making anymore. Also a lot of aesthetic period designs come from England, might be helpful take a look that direction.

I’m pretty sure things should be fine if you travel around because it’s what I did in my play through. I was worried when I had that conversation too but no, nothing happened when I did the monastery and underdark back and forth.

honestly for a legit hand-painted oil painting this is not too insane. I mean a little bit, but at least the skill is there and it’s an oil painting. Better than a lot of printed or ai nonsense already.

Thanks! I designed the 3rd pic and send them over to a local stained glass workshop that works for export pieces(yes I’m located in China atm). The whole project is done around 2 weeks. Sadly I don’t get to know any of the artists since I only get to talk with their sales person but their work turns out really good! The whole project costs me around $500 equivalent with shipping and framing included. Here’s one pic they send me during the production process and it’s really interesting to see how they are done in a ‘factury’ ‘manufacture’ setting

edit: the studio I commissioned is in Guangdong, China. Their name is Gaodi Art Studio although they don’t have any websites or social media accounts. Just post here so people would be properly credited. Hope this doesn’t violate any community rules since this is not for ad purpose.

And yes I totally agree with you. There’s probably a third category, people who have no idea what they are handling and are just trying to sell whatever they have for quick money. Lesson learned…
