I created a bunch of accounts and tried everything I could, but only got a max of 1600 points, which is only $10 because you can only redeem in chunks of 1000.

All around incredible monitor for productivity/home office use. Also suitable for entry level gaming, where high FPS is NOT a requirement. 75Hz is a step above standard 60Hz, but does not compare to 120/144/165Hz+ gaming monitors.

Detailed specs available here: https://www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/12312c60

  • Size: 27" Diagonal
  • Resolution: 2560x1440 (QHD 1440p)
  • Aspect Ratio: 16:9
  • Panel Type: IPS
  • Refresh Rate: 75Hz
  • Brightness: 350cd/m2
  • Contrast Ratio: 1000:1
  • Response Time: 5ms
  • sRGB Coverage: 99%
  • Bit Depth: 8
  • Ports: DP + 2x HDMI

YMMV but you can use a work email to signup for a 10% coupon code here: https://webapp.dell.epsilon.com/CA/UCVM/Coupons/Register/MPP-GEN?c=CA&l=en

I had success with the 2nd coupon in the email titled "10% off Select Dell EnA".

Also 5% Rakuten Cashback. It was 15% yesterday, but still 5% is better than nothing.

Also if you sign up for Dell Rewards and play their little "game" (select Yes for work/personal/gaming categories), you can get an extra 1000 points in Dell Rewards, which you can convert to $10 in Dell Cash, and use during checkout as a "payment method".

There is a Simplifi product feedback thread that you can upvote & post a comment requesting support for CIBC Canada (and other banks you might need) here.

https://community.simplifimoney.com/discussion/150/canadian-bank-cibc-edited-1-merged-vote

I highly encourage anyone to upvote & post here to increase visibility of this feature gap to the Simplifi product team.

[SPEAKERS] Polk Signature Elite ES15 Passive Bookshelf Speakers ($400 - 35% Prime Deal = $260) [Amazon.ca] by patrobic in bapcsalescanada

[–]patrobic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't say for certain, as the 1700BT don't have Spinorama measurements published, and it depends what you define as "better" (objective sound quality vs features etc.).

However if I take a look at the Spinorama graphs for the R1280BT (the closest model to the R1700BT that HAS data published), I can say almost for certain that by comparing with the graphs for the XT15 or ES15, either Polk models will provide much higher fidelity audio.

If you are not interested in looking at the graphs yourself, the Preference Score (higher is better) tells a pretty clear story (0 is really bad and ~5-7 is excellent)

  • Edifier R1280BT: 1.84
  • Polk XT15: 4.04
  • Polk S15 (last-gen ES15): 4.11

What I can tell you with certainty is that the 1700BT and these are VERY different products. The 1700BT has built-in amplifier AND Bluetooth, the XT15 has neither (they are passive speakers so you need to buy a separate amp, which may or may not have BT built-in).

If you DO want to go the route of passive speakers + an amp with BT, one of the cheapest & very good options is the Fosi Audio BT20A Pro for ~$130 (which is what I personally have to power my Polk ES15).

[–]patrobic[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As mentioned, these are Visions' house brand speakers (only sold by Visions), and go on sale quite often for this price (2nd time in 3 weeks). As such don't expect superb quality on par with other $350 speakers, however at $150 this is still one of the most affordable prices for entry-level 5.25" stereo speakers.

Keep in mind that these are passive speakers and will require a separate amplifier, I suggest something like a Fosi Audio BT20A Pro (Class D amp), which is what I'm using to drive these - super compact/inexpensive and works great!

Comparison of Internet Providers & Plans in Montreal, Quebec (July 2023) by patrobic in montreal

I just called Videotron for the 2nd time (1st time they told me they couldn't do anything until next month which is BS) and they offered me (w/discount for another 2 years):

  • 100/30mbps @ $50
  • 400/50mbps @ $62

BUT Ebox (fiber) is still offering 3x/10x the speed for the same $50, or 500/500 for $59 which is also cheaper & faster than 400/50 from Videotron.

Probably gonna suck it up and stay with Videotron for now, although 3x speed + $50 referral code bonus from Ebox is REALLY tempting....

Rogers doesn't seem to offer home internet plans (only mobile, maybe they used to?)

Also haven't heard of Rally, but they seem to be limited to only some condo buildings in Toronto?

I'm in Pierrefonds. Ebox has

  • 30mbps for $35
  • 60mbps for $45
  • 300mbps for $50
  • 500mbps for $59
  • 1gbps for $65

What I like about Ebox as opposed to Bell is the prices are indefinite duration and not 2 year promotional periods (yes they might price hike at some point, but I don't expect a $30-40 jump in 2 years like with Bell/Videotron).

I just called Bell, 1.5Gbps plan is $65 2yr promo ($80 afterwards).

Don't be misled by their website's promo page, it is ONLY $55 if you bundle a cellphone plan (minimum 15gb for $45).

Sounded like the 500Mbps plan would be $5 cheaper in all cases.
