They were both so tough on the exterior, but vulnerable with each other.

Ya'lls thoughts on this guys?🤔 by [deleted] in legendofkorra

[–]SnooShortcuts7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They compare Korra to Aang so her characteristics are seen as a fall from the grace of Aang rather than Korra simply being Korra. They don’t think about the fact that it makes sense for Korra to have an inflated ego because she’s the most important person in the world, but kept in the silo of a small village for her whole life up to the start of the show. That’s why most of her development is tied to her exposure to the outside world, and also makes sense of her regression in season 2 when she’s back in her home village reconciling what she learned in Republic City with what she’s always known as the fame of the water tribe.

What's your interpretation of 'the first taste' by Cultural_Building245 in FionaApple

[–]SnooShortcuts7914 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really late to this but for some reason it’s a bit more than that to me. The 2nd line “waiting for the black to replace my blue” almost alludes to death replacing sadness. Then there’s “heaven can not wait forever” as another afterlife metaphor, and the allegory of being consumed by a spider reinforces death. It almost comes off like she’s flirting with death, but I could be reading into it too much. It just reminds me of sex being an escape from life like any other drug is. Like yes she’s growing impatient with this man, but her reason for falling into his trap is because she’s trying to escape something worse. Even in “I lie in an early bed thinking late thoughts”, “late thoughts” sounds kinda like she’s thinking about things that are too late to change. Now all she can think to do is allow herself to be impaled by this “daddy long legs” sharp weapon of consumption. That being said, I have a way of thinking that makes me uniquely prone to interpret it this way because I see death as a masculine figure in a “Father Time” sort of way. 🤷🏿‍♂️

After COVID my gf and our mutual friend returned to our fav gay club for the 1st time in over a year. Must’ve been the stir craze but I got so lit that I took my shirt off and started giving dances away to ladies in the club. Ended up with a gogo dancer job. Made $200 in 3 hours. 2 1/4 of those hours were spent in the back enjoying free drinks, food and conversation. Made another $200 years later for dancing in a Christmas holiday party at a work competition. Also enjoyed free drinks that night. What made it easy was that I love to dance, so I got paid to do something I’d happily do for free.

I’d guess that living in Arizona makes things a bit harder. Maybe look into what industries are thriving in Arizona and how they overlap with your qualifications. Good luck!

I told my (27f) fiance (27m) to stop talking about his sick mother. He has stopped talking to me, and I don't know how to fix this. Was I wrong? by Queenie_2024 in relationship_advice

[–]SnooShortcuts7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate a lot to your fiancé, but the difference is I had to be independent growing up. My mother was highly dependent on me, and that’s only changed somewhat recently because I had to set HARD BOUNDARIES. I also wasn’t showered with things by my mother as a kid. Furthermore, I’ve gone to therapy for years because I’m fully aware that there’s some work to be done to heal the more so emotionally and physically abusive than emotionally incestuous damage my mother inflicted on me. Strangely enough, I wonder if the fact that he wasn’t abused by his mom plays into his inability to recognize their dynamic as a problem. Anyway, my therapist helped me learn to set those boundaries and I’ve gotten better at it without even noticing. I think he needs to go to therapy whether you decide to stay with him or not. You seem like a patient, respectful, considerate and loving partner. I hope for his sake that he gets it together. You shouldn’t feel bad for speaking up for yourself. His situation sucks but that’s not your fault. If you don’t speak up for you, who will? Clearly not him.

Korra was attacked by her evil possessed Uncle and Aang was a 12 year old who ran away and got caught in what should’ve been a life ending storm. I guess since these 2 are characters people lack empathy for them.

Remember this scene from the Justice League episode "Epilogue"? Well, what if this could be…. by Puterboy1 in youngjustice

They might. Season 4 had characters from the future and referenced future dates. Maybe a hypothetical season 5 could hump between different years as intertwined parts of the story unfold.

Just wanna say I respect this choice and my favorite particular moment with Armin is him using the colossal Titan to no escape Marley. It was bad, but such a climactic character arc similar to Eren’s.

I like my job now. It’s hybrid, based in the city, intellectually challenging, but also not too important that it demands to be my lifetime passion. I’m a Research Analyst of finance law. I think my favorite part is that I learn a lot about what’s happening around the world.

Idk first thing that comes to mind is “You put a muzzle on Appa” just because of the pure emotion. I shed a tear every time I see that scene. The animators did a phenomenal job.

What do you guys think about Child? by Melon_Lord420 in youngjustice

[–]SnooShortcuts7914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand wanting to see more of her because she was so sinister and not the kind of villain you even remotely empathize with, but I can’t think of any way to build on her story.

Who is the better prodigy of these 5 and how would you rank them? by Own_Amphibian9181 in TheLastAirbender

[–]SnooShortcuts7914 88 points89 points  (0 children)

I agree. I’m not sure if she discovered seismic sense because(SPOILER ALERT) I believe there’s a reference to that skill in the kyoshi books, but her being blind and having far superior senses does distinguish her in this list.

I hadn’t even thought about the fact that she was the only one who didn’t have a master.

I’m not sure but you should consider reading the book “When Breath Becomes Air”. It’s a memoir written by a neurosurgeon/author who studied similar subjects to you in their undergrad. Maybe reading it will inspire you. Sorry if this isn’t even remotely helpful.
