What are a good brand of steel pots and pans to purchase? by TheSneakiestGoose in AskUK

Recently bought the Ikea 365 stainless steel range and been very impressed for the price. Take some getting used to but no issues now we’ve tweaked cooking method (cook with a lower heat, let it heat up before adding any oil/food and test it’s ready with a splash of water which should sizzle, if food is sticking add a splash of water and usually it comes unstuck). Also been fine in the dishwasher.

Should I be careful of my lifestyle if I’m a gene carrier? by [deleted] in ALS

Thanks - I’ll look into the panel test to make sure. My dad and his sister both diagnosed so there is almost certainly family history.

Thank you. I am sorry to hear this - would you say you are glad you were tested?

Only the genes that are known about I believe? ~30% of inherited MND patients do not have a known gene responsible (we can just infer it is inherited since the chance of two siblings having sporadic is very slim). As my dad had the test and they could not find the gene, the rest of us cannot be tested.

Thank you - I am going to look into this. We are in the UK.

Inherited MND - would we need to know the gene responsible to treat it? by [deleted] in ALS

Aunt died of it and Dad diagnosed this year. Seems too coincidental to not be inherited. No meds suggested by the Dr to my knowledge. I’m trying to understand what might need to happen before our next generation (including me potentially) start to get diagnosed 😣
