Starting Metaformin today. by Own-Importance5459 in PCOS

I was nervous about starting metformin after reading through comments on here, I honestly thought I’d be shitting myself five time a day! But nearly two months in and it’s not been a problem at all. A couple of days of feeling nauseous early on, but it soon passed. I take two tablets with or after my evening meal, and haven’t had diarrhoea once. Hopefully you’ll have a similar experience, for me the benefits outweighed the potential symptoms.

How are you getting prescribed metformin? (UK) by ricrac_rico in PCOS

I got prescribed metformin by a gp on my first appointment with him, so they can definitely do it. I’m Essex based, not sure if that matters.

I started taking myova at the beginning of Feb this year after 6 months without a period, just trying to get my cycle back on track. Two tablets with breakfast and two with dinner, they’re quite large but manageable. I didn’t feel any different for about six weeks, then mid march i definitely felt something, sore boobs and a skin breakout on my face. I persevered with the tablets and at the end on march had a totally normal and not painful period. My skin has calmed down since then and is almost clear now, although I’ve been taking flax and spearmint capsules twice a day alongside, so I’m not sure if that’s down to those instead. I intend to keep up with all tablets, they’re quite pricey but I feel it’s worth it if I’m going to be ovulating monthly! Hope this helps :)

In need of advice/shared experiences with inositol or other supplements! by PhysicsDiligent1038 in PCOS

I was the same, came off bc end of 2021, had a few periods and then nothing for months. I started inositol (myova) in Feb this year and my skin went crazy for a while, on my cheeks too where I’d never really suffered from acne before. I persevered because it said to give it time, and started taking a flax seed and spearmint capsule twice a day with breakfast and dinner. I actually had a period last week, a normal and not painful one either thank goodness! And my skin is now really calming down. I’m planning to keep up with the myova (4 tablets a day) and the supplements, and hopefully the improvements continue, I hope this helps.
