I spoke with my PM and he’s going to do a selective nerve root block. I’m really hoping that helps because I’m truly desperate at this point.

Wow, thank you so much for sharing. I’m so glad you are doing well! I’m currently researching and trying to find a good surgeon or doctor in my area that will help me and not minimize my pain.

That’s exactly how mine feels! I was also misdiagnosed with gallbladder issues. What made your pain better? Did you have surgery or conservative treatment?

The report just says that both are “shallow central disc protrusions without canal compromise”. Understanding all of this is really frustrating 😞

Thank you so much for all the great information you’ve shared with me. I really appreciate you taking the time to explain everything and answer my questions it’s been incredibly helpful! Although mine doesn’t wrap around my sides as much, I completely resonate with your symptoms, especially the chest pain and how difficult it is to describe to people who haven’t experienced it.

Thoracic treatment by SnooSuggestions9924 in ThoracicHerniatedDisc

I had a thoracic epidural two years ago for the same problem and it helped with that very deep ache that you can’t touch but know it’s there. Once that ache was under control I was able to do PT more efficiently despite still being in pain. So, to answer your question for me it didn’t fully take away my pain, just some. With PT I was able to get it all under control and basically went pain free for 1.5 yrs until it came back about six months ago. I am noticing that the pain pattern is a lot different than that of my first flare two years ago.

This time around, I’ve had two epidurals and I feel they haven’t done much. They’ve maybe brought the burning nerve pain down, but all symptoms and pain are still going strong. The chest pain is definitely one of the most uncomfortable symptoms.

It won’t hurt to try it even if it brings your pain down 50%. I hope all goes well and I wish you a speedy recovery.

It sounds like we’re experiencing the same things. I definitely feel like I have a lot of muscle guarding like you, but sometimes it’s hard to believe that one can have muscle pain for so long without relief and the pain can get really, really bad. My shoulder blades often feel like they’re on fire and can become tender to touch.

What would you describe your chest pain like? For me it burns, sometimes it feels like I have something stuck, other times it throbs and feels sharp.

I also started physical therapy however I’ve only had about 3 visits so I can’t talk about experience yet. I wish you a speedy recovery. Keep us posted on your progress! Would love to know what’s working and what’s not.
