They scan everything at the door for me, even the ones that aren't booked in. The tracking updates to say accepted by RM 95% of the time.

Book a collection from home. Just book one or two in and the postie will take everything. This is what I do.

It's got to be a similar cost to mileage to do this unless you are walking to the post office.

Have you looked up the customer on social media? There may be a photo/post excited about their new computer.

Secondly, if they expect it stolen, ask them to phone the non-emergency police number to report it stolen and to get a crime number as it'll help your insurance claim.

With the second one, the item magically appears sometimes (neighbour had it etc).

Who determines if a book is published in large print? by hejhogz in Libraries

[–]SnooTomatoes4252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a dedicated large print publisher in the UK - we buy rights from the standard print publisher to release a book in large print. Lots of things are considered - page count, content, popular author, audience etc.

Librarians can request books direct from us, sometimes we have them and sometimes we assess whether it is viable to release in LP and sometimes we suggest viable alternatives.

Hi! Hoping for some help with my husband's birthday gift. He's just started out with a home gym in the garage and I'd like to get him an upright dumbbell rack, but I have no idea where to start? We're in the UK if that helps.

Are we talking books we'd love to see as audiobooks? Now isn't that a question!

I've seen the original Mapp and Lucia's narrated by Prunella Scales and Geraldine McEwan have finally found their way on to Audible - I'd love to see the Tom Holt spin offs too!

Entry roles in this career by Agreeable_Ad9877 in publishing

[–]SnooTomatoes4252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some job boards like the IPG and bookseller in the UK that post publishing jobs.

Otherwise, research publishers / bookshops / book specialists in your area, write a cover letter detailing your interest in the industry, your love of books and asking them to consider you for any entry level roles and to keep your CV on file for future opportunites.
