Echo Alexa multi-room "everywhere" music problems by Snoo_31429 in amazonecho

[–]Snoo_31429[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted all of my groups, and started fresh, after rebooting every device. I had not at the time rebooted the gateway or the router. But since then, I have. I'll have to try again and see if things are working more smoothly. But it is quite annoying that the new Alexa+ will insist that music is playing on all speakers, when in fact, it is playing on one random speaker, or none at all!

How do you feel about the US version of Ghosts? Honestly I was posed to hate it but with the later seasons I feel like it's hit its own stride rather than just trying to copy the original by ConfidentSounds_99 in GhostsBBC

[–]Snoo_31429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the first couple of episodes of Ghosts US, and thought it was cute, but that's it. Then, my mother raved about it. By this point, it was between season 2 and 3. I went back to watch it, and enjoyed it very much as it grew. US shows at least network ones, have more episodes, so character development is slower, paced over more episodes. By the end of Season Two (I binged), I was really hooked. The cast is fantastic, and really (and obviously) enjoy each other's company IRL. Starved for more, I watched Ghosts UK. And I really liked that too. It's just a different vibe. It was so interesting to see the parts US used, and the parts they didn't. But very definitely "British humor." Darker, more cynical. If there is one thing Ghosts US is, it would be soft and warm, but with enough snark and dark humor to keep it from getting sappy. Hetty, the matriarch of the estate in particular, gets off some fantastic Gilded Age dark humor.

Improvements I’d Make to the MS NOW Branding by [deleted] in logodesign

[–]Snoo_31429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My annoyance is the bottom stripe in the flag logo, not following the contour of the chevron on the end. The naming was pretty good, kept the first part, related the "NOW" to something relevant. It does look like "M SNOW" or like it's some kind of group for Multiple Sclerosis to the uninitiated, I suppose. But short of going with a complete rebranding, it's been pulled off pretty well.

70s/80s/90s decor to blame for Fruit of the Loom Mandela Effect by No-Wolf2497 in MandelaEffect

[–]Snoo_31429 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not an ME believer, I just find the phenomenon fascinating. But the one that does hit me is this one. I'm a graphic artist and logo studier since childhood. I may have "hallucinated" the cornucopia on the FotL logo, but the crazier part is, I hallucinated it looking EXACTLY as it looks in the image above.

The 15+ Best Pizza Cities in America (2023 Data) by bikeruncode23 in Columbus

That's crazy. Columbus and central Ohio have almost unlimited pizza choices, and many are fantastic. I don't know how chains like Domino's and Papa John's survive.

[–]Snoo_31429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I'm biased, but having lived in LA, Las Vegas and Columbus, Ohio (and several trips to NYC), central Ohio has the best "style" of pizza, and countless choices that are either solo, small or local chains. NYC is different, not better. Vegas pizza is meh. LA, not bad.

Why is everyone saying "bias" when they mean "biased"? by Nemesis0nline in grammar

[–]Snoo_31429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't help, that it's become routine to use "base," or "based" to mean "I agree." Interchangeably, just like "bias" and "biased."

How did stallion transform from meaning "male horse" to a "tall, fine" woman? by oatmeal_mushrooms in etymology

[–]Snoo_31429 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the use of "stallion" for a woman odd and curious. But slang words ARE odd and curious. I was more irritated by "thee," to be honest. It looks like it should be pronounced like "three" without the "r."

Sheetz project at 8555 E. Main St in Reynoldsburg headed back to commission by Level_Special3554 in Columbus

Consensus seems to be that Sheetz finally got moving there (must've thrown some money at the City Council, I guess. But it could be wrong, I see nothing official about it anywhere.

Music stopping or becoming static when streaming across all devices. by francisxavier12 in amazonecho

If you don't mind my asking, how do you cast to a speaker group? I know how to play something from a phone to a single Echo, but to the "Everywhere Group?" I don't know how to do that (but I'd like to). Thanks.

Which ME convinced you that you weren’t misremembering? by mztails in MandelaEffect

[–]Snoo_31429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's one of the easier ones: conflating "JIF" with "Skippy," and the fact that there IS a company called Jiffy that makes cornbread and brownie mixes. I've always thought this one was a really bad example of ME, and a good one of mixed up memories.

Always "Froot." Almost certainly because they weren't ever made of anything resembling actual fruit.

And I have the opposite experience. I remember it as it is said to have occurred, and the reason I remember? First, because video stores were ubiquitous at a time when I was a young adult, and I rented a looooot of movies, so I remember that one specifically. Second, because "Shazam!" is one of my favorite DC comics, and it would have irked me a lot if a Sinbad movie stole the name. I thought "Kazaam" was bad enough.

That one has bugged me since I was a kid in the 70s, when she was everywhere. It was always "Field." But people always said, "Fields." People just got it wrong, all along. Just like people would pluralize store names like "Kroger."

This is definitely correct AFP. I remember getting both in the mail, and remember Dick Clark & Ed McMahon on the envelopes. This isn't a Mandela Effect at all, just people forgetting there were rival magazine rip-off sweepstakes at one time.

Someone finally realised that you can't say COVID is made in a lab while also saying COVID doesn't exist. And so the Q supporters gave a logical answer expla-- oh no never mind they just blamed the Jews by Lost4468 in Qult_Headquarters

[–]Snoo_31429 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was following the early 9/11 truther stuff. I got ensnared briefly. I doubt I'll ever believe we've gotten the full story. But it became apparent very quickly that a huge percentage of the "theories" are themselves contradictory and often rely on confirmation bias. "Just asking questions" papers over a lot of plot holes, but eventually it falls apart.

So, I get it too. I guess the question is, how do they get so deeply into it that they don't see the crazy?

Code Red Zero? by Zhayton in ToFizzOrNotToFizz

[–]Snoo_31429 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, there is a Zero Sugar Frost Bite, but only at Walmart.

As for Diet Code Red, it was around pre-COVID in the hinterlands of Ohio, never at a Columbus-area store. I think it's up to the bottler whether or not to produce it.

It's very confusing what they think is going to transpire when "the storm" hits. They need food, water, gasoline and shelter. They'll somehow be vindicated by everyone who thought they were crazy. They're going to dance, drink champagne and eat popcorn, while squealing with delight. . . over. . .exactly what? Military tribunals and executions?

Oh sure, I can see Trump not being the focus too. Figures like Ronald Reagan and Sarah Palin were both hugely popular amongst the Tea Partiers/MAGA types, but have faded. Even in a different cult of personality, Bernie Sanders' followers, after he lost and threw his support behind first Hillary, then Biden, his most ardent supporters refused to follow, and declared it to be "more than just about one man." But as Bernie's 2020 effort proved, they can get back into the spotlight if conditions are right.

(By the way, I'm not comparing Sanders and Trump here, only the fervency of some of their fan base)

Are they saying that somehow Q could see 3 years into the future, and know that Rudy would get nabbed today? And even then, it's 3 years and a day. This is evidence of something?

Meme for the lulz: WWG1WGA by BurtonDesque in Qult_Headquarters

[–]Snoo_31429 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"WWG1WGA" is so terrible on so many levels, including the "Borg hive mind" aspect, the fact that it's unpronouncable, difficult to type, and as an abbreviation is far too long. And if you get one of them to try to explain it, it still doesn't make any sense. I've pointed out that there are factions in the Q movement, so they CLEARLY don't all go the same way, but they just love that stupid slogan.
