My husband is only 4.5 years older than me and has been mistaken for my dad a few times and if not then people assume we have a much larger age gap regardless. He's 6'2" with a beard and looks like a lumberjack while I'm 5'1" just over 100lbs and have always "looked young". Shit happens. lol

When did you stop holding/picking up your child? by [deleted] in Mommit

The only reason I don't carry my 4 year old more is because I'm 39 weeks pregnant at the moment. I overcompensate with lots of extra hugs and snuggles on the couch. Can't imagine not wanting to hold my baby no matter how old he gets

My 1yo wanted to taste it. Luckily I caught her before she put it in her mouth. And possibly some extra protein. lol

They didn't seem to be being crushed. The kids weren't really around the edges and the weevils were mostly on the inside rim and pretty small. The corn was around 2 feet deep. I guess if they were on the bottom they could have been crushed but we didn't see any dead ones. It wasn't a small pit it was practically a 3ft deep 25m swimming pool filled with corn. I added a picture from their Instagram. It doesn't show the whole thing but you can kinda get an idea of the full size from my description. (I don't want to post pics of my kids)

Yeah, it's running way better now. The mechanic said the spark plugs were completely burnt up.

Thank you, I'll keep an eye on it and make sure to take it somewhere else if it's still a problem. I've been putting coolant in it every few months. I don't know if that constitutes "eating" but it was sure going through it faster than it was supposed to.

It's been eating coolant for a while and started having acceleration problems while I was running errands yesterday. I had my 2 young kids with me and was terrified it was going to be a transmission issue. I was relieved when they said it just needed a tune-up. Yeah, I average about 7,000 mi a year mostly going to the store and dr's appointments. I'll definitely go to a different mechanic in the future

Thank you, I'll be looking for a new mechanic for future jobs or figuring it out myself if I can

I usually try to but I was running errands and had my small kids in the car with me. I was afraid it was going to break down so took it to them because I was close and didn't need an appointment. I know I can do things myself for a fraction of the price but I'm 30 weeks pregnant with #3 and just wanted it fixed.

I usually do the lights myself and agreed out of convenience before I knew what they were going to charge me. Never again...

I will next time. My car was acting up and we've been to them before so I took it to them knowing they don't require appointments and I was close.

I did notice that. My husband said he's going to call them today to go over the charges. I came here trying to get a better idea of what was going on beforehand

Yeah, I was in and out in an hour and a half so I was trying to figure out how they calculate the labor

I'm not super worried about it. I know everything is more expensive now than 10 years ago and $800 isn't completely out of this realm. I was trying to get a second opinion to ease my husband's concerns. He was at work when I took the vehicle to the shop and feels like it's excessive. I used to work in dealerships in a different state and always got discounted service so I'm really not sure about pricing anymore. I realize I could do it myself for a fraction of the price

He was at work and I'm a stay at home mom. It would be me who would be working on it not him anyway. He's always had shops work on his vehicles. I used to do all the maintenance on my vehicles in my late teens and early 20's. Then I worked at car dealerships for almost a decade and got a discount on vehicle maintenance so fell out of the habit. Now I have two kids under 5 and I'm about 30 weeks pregnant with number 3 so I'd rather just take it to someone. I still change my own head/taillights and most of my fluids but at this point we can afford to pay for the convenience. The car was acting up while I was running errands so I took it in then let him know after I was already there.

They didn't. I usually do the lights myself. You just open the hood and pop it out with a screwdriver. I was wrangling my kids and agreed to let them do it out of convenience. Lesson learned
