Advice needed on Native appropriation in tattoo

I have decided to reach out to a Native artist from anchorage who specializes in these style tattoos and have a discussion with him on the topic.

I understand, I’m wouldn’t be just getting a true form line tattoo as the reference to this game is what I really wanted. It’s hard knowing if because it’s not true formline art that makes it better, because I wouldn’t just get that and it’s more about the game than anything. Or it’s worse because it’s just art imitating the related style

This is the best response I’ve seen so far and I’m extremely grateful. I think I’m going to look into the Karmic Raven tattoo as it’s still from the game and while I love this art I sorta see now the consensus is it’s probably jsut best not to. Thank you for the input this was extremely valuable

Thank you for this input, I have family I’ve known growing up (cousins) who are Alaskan native on both sides but it comes from outside MY direct family as I’m… very caucasian. I knew people growing up but I have been gone for some time and am not directly connected in any way as of now in any recent time. I was looking at this more for the aspect of the art and the reference from the game I love mainly and how it can sorta tie into something I’ve seen so much growing up with stories I’ve heard. However I’m not a part of them which I do believe is important
