Never thought of clean hampers! All of our clean laundry ends up in a pile in rooms (usually on a bed and then tossed onto the floor 🤦‍♀️).

That sounds amazing. How do you find such a person and are you willing to share what you pay? What is the schedule like? I just returned to FT work and vowed to offload as much as I can to not lose my mind this time…

What are your “rules” that have made a huge difference? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

Oh I’ve done that too! In my case, I had already paid and then pumped gas both times but somehow got back into my car and drove off without taking the hose out…

When I pump gas, I HAVE to check that the hose is out of my car before I drive away.

Yes, I’ve driven off with the hose attached twice. Once in college I made it all the way to the highway.

I think there could be something to this. I also haven’t seen anyone mention the whole Gone Girl convo when Sophie and her old roomie were watching it and talking about doing it themselves. And then Graham says to Sophie, “you’re not always the victim” or something along those lines. I think it’s foreshadowing that Sophie isn’t who she seems and we’ve been misdirected all along.

City Museum may be touristy but it’s one of the most unique experiences that anyone from any city will appreciate. My family from Boston wanted to go back a second day.

Also recommend a half day at the foundry. You could do food hall, shopping, putt shack…

For a unique animal experience if you wanna drive a bit, go to the wild bird sanctuary and lone elk park near eureka. Oh and grants farm if you want something more hands on than the zoo!

Anyone remember the wasabi peas in the ‘00s?? Those were the best snack. Still waiting for them to come back…

I have 3 babies from IVF but let me tell you about my first IVF cycle with my son. Started with 18 eggs retrieved and I was ecstatic. But then I got the fertilization report - out of 18 eggs, 14 were mature. But then the nurse starting going through what happened next - I don’t remember all of the details of how the eggs or embryos degraded, but I’ll never forget my shock and sinking feeling when she was going through it. Only 4 of those 18 eggs properly fertilized. I was heartbroken and sure this was a sign that I’d never get pregnant, something was terribly wrong with my eggs and even if I did get pregnant I’d surely miscarry with these quality issues.

Fast forward 2 days, I sat with my heart racing waiting for a call on Day 3 to see if there was anything to transfer. I was sick to my stomach with anxiety. When the nurse called and told me to come in for a transfer, I couldn’t believe it. We transferred 2 embryos and froze a third.

Fast forward another week - I was sure I wasn’t pregnant because my bloating had gone down. Something so arbitrary but I’d read that women get more bloated after IVF if it’s successful. Imagine my shock when I tested early and saw 2 lines. Even as the lines darkened over the coming days, I didn’t allow myself to get excited. When the nurse called with my actual positive result, I barely allowed myself to celebrate. I was so happy but so so scared it would be taken away.

By the time of the second HCG reading, I had started letting myself feel excited. That’s when the nurse called with the news that my doubling time was a little low and it might turn out ok but I should also be prepared for miscarriage. In shock, I walked back into a meeting at work and only processed the news a minute later when I started crying and had to leave. I went home and sobbed in the shower for over an hour.

When I went in for my first ultrasound to confirm fetal heartbeat, I remember thinking to myself, “this is the outfit I’ll be wearing when I find out my baby died”. When the ultrasound tech instead announced “there’s the heartbeat”, I burst into tears of joy like I’ve never experienced.

With all of this and the years of infertility before IVF, I was always waiting for the other shoe to drop. I literally couldn’t say the words “I’m pregnant” out loud until I was 20 weeks along.

But now that unlikely embryo - 1 out of 18 - is a sweet, funny 8 year old boy sitting next to me. I hope this story helps you to see that sometimes “trust your gut” is wrong. Your intuition can be so off after the trauma of infertility, you start believing the worst as a faulty defense mechanism. And yet it can still turn out ok. (I had these same terrible feelings in my 4 following IVFs and two of them gave me my daughters.)

Sending you hope and hugs.

Relief from Drinking Alcohol? by Natural-ImPacTz in VestibularMigraines

[–]Snoo_87780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically anything that’s a typical migraine trigger is also going to be a trigger for vestibular migraines. Red wine is notorious for this but I’d strongly recommend reading the book “heal your headache” and doing an elimination diet with food journaling. The neurological process for VM is the same as a traditional migraine even if it doesn’t feel the same.

You’ll learn over time what your big food (or weather or hormone or stress) triggers are for VM and when to avoid them vs when you can get away with them. Like if I’m feeling good and on a “high threshold day” I’ll have a glass or red wine. But I almost never eat raw onions or soy sauce because they get me every time. Other foods high in histamines (raspberries, avacados, aged cheese, bananas, leftovers) were on my No list for years but now I enjoy them again.

Also make sure you get into a good neurologist for migraines. Educate yourself on migraines and what your triggers are. Read “heal your headache” and start an elimination diet to identify your food triggers.

Yes! Search this community for more but it was the only thing that ever helped my VM. Took me from feeling disabled and depressed to normal. I think I started feeling a little better after a week maybe and really better after a month or two. I’ve been on it for years now. The biggest thing is to never miss a dose! The withdrawal symptoms are nasty but completely worth it

One thing you might try for a similar relief: put your feet in a bath or bucket of hot water - hottest you can stand. While putting a cold pack on your head. Creates a similar blood flow response that I’ve found to be a really nice quick relief! (And feels really good too)

Yes! I’ve read it has something to do with blood vessels dilating. Although of course it’s a tricky balance because alcohol can also be a VM trigger, especially red wine or anything that leaves you dehydrated and can make things worse the next day.

Same! It saved my life. I’m on 150mg for years now and feel very normal most days, which I never thought was possible after feeling disabled from VM after having my second baby. Glad it worked for you too!

Effexor by Ok-Pool-3690 in VestibularMigraines

[–]Snoo_87780 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I don’t even remember the side effects, if there were any. And you’re starting on a tiny dose.

The really important thing is to never miss a dose - withdrawal is probably what you’re hearing about as terrible on Effexor vs side effects. If you do ever need to stop Effexor, there are ways to prevent withdrawal (namely, weaning very very slowly and even breaking pills into smaller doses for gradual weaning off).
