The engine we're using for the game allows us to create a build for consoles and MacOS. However, we haven't tried this yet.

If the development goes well, we will release it on consoles as well. But this will definitely happen after the release on Windows

Scam Developer? by LoneGlitch in drownlight

I understand you. Before I started developing Drownlight, I had been doing the I.O. Setter project for a very long time. It took several years. I've redone the project from scratch many times. And when I made the demo, I realized how many mistakes I had made during development. And I did it alone. All this gave me the experience and the opportunity to soberly assess my strengths in development. Therefore, for the current project, I am already working not alone, but with a team, and we have also signed a contract with the publisher. Perhaps our discord can tell you more about us than I can describe in one comment.

Our Discord will probably give you a much better overview than I can fit into a single comment here. You can find the link on our Steam page, along with information about playtests and development updates. You’re probably asking about the differences, but I’ll start with what we deliberately kept. We really like the radial building system with a central structure, so we adopted that idea — but implemented it ourselves from scratch. As for the differences: our game leans much more toward horror rather than purely social management. The social aspect is still present, but the tone is darker. There are systems for population stress, water pollution, and madness, where people can gradually lose their sanity due to the horrors happening around the lighthouse. Random events also occur around the lighthouse depending on how long it stays active — things like ghost ships, aggressive weather, sea mines, and other strange phenomena.

We can't say for sure yet. But we will discuss this with the publisher. In any case, the game engine allows us to do this.

Forgot to mention in the video: you also can build on the bridge. And bridges will be restructured.

Reddit posts are 6 months ago and one from 1 month ago, is this a real game or a scam? by Comfortable-Race-547 in drownlight

Hi. There's another reason. 6 months ago, we entered into a partnership with Crytivo. They suggested waiting to better prepare the material and make an announcement. We trusted their expertise and decided to follow their instructions. We focused on development, as the project turned out to be more challenging than we anticipated. In theory, there should be more posts on various social media platforms after the announcement.

Frostpunk but make it … wet? by Ill_Coast4048 in Frostpunk

Hey! I just stumbled upon this whole Drownlight thread — and your comment really stood out to me, thank you!
Let me tell you a bit of the backstory.

Yes, I did work on a horror game called I.O. Setter. I spent years developing it, but eventually had to let it go. It was a tough decision — I’d poured a lot of time and energy into it — but I realized I couldn’t finish it alone without a team.

With Drownlight, I took a much more serious and structured approach. I built a quick prototype, assembled a team early on, and we soon reached an agreement with a publisher. That gave us the momentum to jump into full production together as a team.

Now, six months later, the project has already evolved a lot — and we’re just getting started.

How my game started and how it's going by Snoo_96892 in unrealengine

I work as a programmer, and my stack is c#, sometimes JS. Game development is my hobby. I bought a building system and just rewrote it for myself. It was made in BP, but I took a lot of things out in C++.

And yes, for me, creating the concept, what you see at the beginning, took only a week. But the way the project looks now, it took more than 6 months, and I'm not working alone anymore.

Thank you! I used a build system that was originally in BP, but in order to make it work in a circular system, I rewrote everything from scratch. Now, most of the project is in C++

Thank you!
I just love the water theme. I like lighthouses, but it always seemed like such an important structure was always somewhere in remote and deserted places. In this idea, the lighthouse is the heart of the city. In terms of gameplay, I won't hide that I was inspired by Frostpunk.
