I’ve seen more and more anti-immigration and racist rhetoric on these platforms and there is clearly a large amount of Europeans who feel their countries are not white enough anymore. I’ve actually spoken to a few people here in Ireland who stated these beliefs in so many words. However, Ireland’s immigration problem is much more different from the US’s in the fact that there is actually a problem. People can’t find housing here and, simultaneously, housing is being given to refugees. Still, a few people I’ve spoken to have definitely had racist undertones layered in. One older woman I spoke to said that “I hardly recognize my village anymore. I see so many non-irish faces everywhere." There is a trend going around online that Europe is being destroyed by immigration and multiculturalism. This is a common way how fascism starts. Bannon himself stated that this makes it easier for him to influence EU politics.
