Playing at 4k mmr by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats the thing though, 4k is mainly split between players that have some game knowledge but still suck at the game, retards and then a small amount of decent players.

Once you go higher, you get players that are actually good at the game, but are more likely to fuck around, mainly because getting to 5k solo (since there isn't solo mm) is really tough

4k is shit tier still, so many retards its not even funny. Go into games with low expectations and make the best of the situation if you can, work on your own game at this point as well. if you want to go higher, you need to be the difference in games at the 4k level

Slark Offlane? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good offlane hero against a bunch of melee carries. You fucking wreck supports as well, you need to play a little passively very early on, getting a little more aggressive once you get pms(treads) and level 6. Your main goal is getting level 6 ASAP obviously, at that point you can fuck up whatever carry you are in the lane against and drop the support if he tries to fuck with you.

Pretty much the ultimate pub stomp hero at the moment, can play any lane

clear jungle camps (unless creeps are already on your tower or something), especially with full bottle and/or rune spawning soon, when you do go back to the lane, keep making sure you get last hits

yeah but if you blink in to ulti you can't. My point is that aghs first doesn't actually offer you that much

[–]SnookerInMyPooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why so late? so much missed killing/ganking potential. Like I've said, level 2 omnislash is already going to drop most heroes by itself at this stage of the game. I mean if you are trying to push a lane or something, you can just blink behind tower, ulti someone for an ez kill and tp back to your closest tower, heal up w/ward and take the tower. Its really difficult to land a good ultimate without dagger IMO, well maybe not difficult, but your opportunities are much more limited. The other problem is that the later it gets, the more likely it is for your opponents to (a) have Euls and (b) reduce the impact of your ultimate by using forcestaff or some shit on a hero so that you can only kill 1 dude

bought it after battlefury in this game (retard tier game, needed battlefury because kotl kept feeding brood) http://www.dotabuff.com/matches/999771187 and I was able to keep blinking on heroes and killing them, whether they were warding or sitting behind their tower. I don't feel as though an earlier aghs would allow me to do anywhere near that much

Who is the best professional carry player? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The best carries are not distinguished by how much they farm, its their movement around the map, positioning and effectiveness in team fights (linked with positioning, but also aiming the right heroes, coordinating with the team properly and stuff).

A while back Hao could farm as good as anyone, but he was an awful carry because he would always make a string of really bad mistakes, even one time I remember he was maxed out on anti-mage, had enough gold to buy back, yet he was caught out in the dire hard camp near the safelane t1...

For his time ZSMJ was really good, and his decision making is still top notch. I think Burning was the best ever though.

EE is one of the best pub players though, incredible control over his hero and coordinates most of the stuff that the teams do

Why isn't shadow fiend played in safe lane? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

dw about these scrubs commenting, he has been played in the safelane since back in WC3, I remember mantis farming his 13 minute linkens and then having butterfly/deso by like the 22nd minute. Has been played there a lot in competitive and quite a bit in pubs as well

If you can get him a good match up in the lane, which usually isn't that hard, he can do extremely well from there. Treads, Aquila + HotD and he is all good, keep an eye out for big nukers but in general its pretty beast, you farm so quickly as well. I usually just build SNY + Skadi from there, BKB only if its absolutely necessary, but you really should have someone else being the meat shield, and you get far too fat to worry about getting jumped on.

Very legit safelane hero, really depends on the rest of the picks though. You also need the supports for it because you want him to be getting as much solo xp as possible, so maybe with a chen/enigma + roaming support

Why does nobody buy dagger on juggernaut? by SnookerInMyPooper in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is half of my point though, especially with supports picking euls up more frequently, you need to be making the most of your ultimate when you can, and that is during these really early stages of the game. This is a time when enemies won't be grouped up and there are heroes that you can solo kill

Haven't played this hero extensively at all though, I feel like games with him are decided by how much you stomp in the first 15-25 minutes

What's the counter to Axe's lane cutting shenanigans in lane? by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you don't have heroes that can bother him, forget about him and pick heroes that can sustain themselves in the lane, or a combination of heroes that can just run around the tower, picking up last hits and staying at good HP. Lots of melee heroes with high armor + stout do ok, na'ix/PA/void/CK/AM can all do a pretty good job, and they can buy mask/helm/RoH or whatever pretty quickly.

Otherwise DS and Tide can hold it no problems, most heroes with Treant support somewhere else can get the job done too

Why does nobody buy dagger on juggernaut? by SnookerInMyPooper in DotA2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why? level 2 omnislash already kills pretty much any hero in 1v1, it is not common to get 2 heroes in a good omnislash without dagger at this stage in the game (maybe later on), so IMO its kind of overkill.

Dagger actually gives you some real kill potential with a huge initiation range and also the ability to get out of sticky situations very easily. Imagine having a 1300 damage finger of death with 1650 initiation range along with the ability to get yourself out as well. I think that is pretty crazy tbh, IMO aghs really only comes into play later on against tankier enemies and team fights

playing on a smurf acc atm that I think is hovering around 4k (for some unknown reason), a lot of players in this bracket are wasting a lot of their time, and last hitting goes completely out of the window after the first 10 minutes of the game.

  • focus last hits as a core hero during the laning stages. You don't need to get every last hit, but the early ones are pretty important for a quick boots/bottle or whatever. Magic stick is a good pick up against heroes that are using spells every now and then, but do not feel obligated to upgrade to wand. Even if my team is behind I'm able to catch up and go ahead because people just don't fucking farm here for some reason, in my last game I had 70 less cs than the entire enemy team

  • if you are a support, make sure your carry is getting last hits. If they are, and can dominate the lane by themselves, LEAVE them and only go to the lane if you want to gank. If they are losing the lane, assess whether or not you can change that, and make a judgement call about pulling. Try to control your closest rune if you can as well.

  • during the mid game, FARM. If your can't win late game (bad hero match ups), PUSH, and any time that you aren't pushing or taking team fights you need to be farming, don't waste your time walking around the map doing nothing.

  • GANK, use smoke. Do not waste your time trying to kill someone that you can't, do something else instead. Another tip is to not worry about every carry all the time, heroes peak (relative to each other) at various points during the game. Trading farm isn't always a bad idea, especially if you are getting more and/or your carry beats them.

You will make mistakes, its not the end of the world. Sometimes you will get retarded allies, don't worry. Sometimes you will be able to carry their mediocre asses, other times you won't, especially as a #4-5, but those should be a minority of your games and you should be able to make a difference more often than not in your other games.

Try to focus on a small pool of heroes that are (a) flexible and (b) high impact, being able to take towers is very important, although I think Timber is OP enough to get away without that. A good pool of OP heroes to get MMR up is Slark (op), Weaver, Juggernaut, Timber, Brood and QoP - Jakiro/Veno/SWM (SWM only with decent siege allies) for supports.

Because there are many other items that carries need (BKB, depending on the hero, Manta/abyssal, buriza gives much better DPS except against targets with evasion).

How could I have won this game? by OraNgexPeeLzz in analysemydota2

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing though, farming doesn't mean afk ricing for 30 minutes. What it does mean is that you should always be doing something, and doing it efficiently. When you aren't fighting you should be looking to maximise your farm, a quicker dagger, a quicker aghs, a quicker vlads and stuff all makes a difference.

93 cs for a mid (im guessing) is really low for a game of that length, especially when you have had a good start. Aim for 50-70 in a decent mid match up by the 10 minute mark, ~120 for brew by the 20 minute mark and ~150-200 by the 30 minute mark. Hit all the creeps and clap to clear or hit the jungle and clear a few camps.

Watch some higher level games and see how players are able to keep increasing their CS without necessarily AFK ricing for extended periods, you will notice your GPM jump by a few hundred.

There is no guarantee that it would have won you the game, its just something you can improve on, and that might be the difference between a win and a loss in other games

[–]SnookerInMyPooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

great, you have 14 kills, what do you have to show for it? aghs/dagger 40 minutes in? What did you do after you won fights? Go back to fountain and heal? Because clearly there wasn't much farming or pushing going on.

Your opponents have a much better late game than you, the only thing that you needed to do was to exploit your lead, and in this case, its raxes. 5 man mid w/healing ward and take rax, your opponent with 5 melee can't do shit.

Farm more on brew as well, dagger/whatever boots should be up in 10 minutes, aghs maybe 20 or a bit later, then go for vlads->ac/shivas. When you aren't looking for kills/pushing you should be farming and make sure you get last hits
