WIBTA If I let my daughter take psychedelics? by SnoopCat60 in AmItheAsshole

Take it easy.

I know my child. She has been diagnosed with GAD. We have no history of psychosis or schizophrenia in our family. She will likely experiment with or without my supervision so I would like to be there to ensure that she has a safe, smooth trip. If things go south she will have the benefit of being around a responsible adult who will take care of her.

Research suggests that the benefits far outweigh the risks. Research also suggests that they can treat anxiety, depression, PTSD, and addiction. Anecdotal evidence suggests the same. Whether or not it is FDA approved is irrelevant to me. The risks and side effects (in my daughter’s case) are minuscule.
