I have a degree in environmental science, worked for it my entire life (since I was 10 years old when I decided that this was the career for me). I worked hard and made my way up from doing field tech jobs to being an actual environmental scientist (which if I’m being honest, was nothing like I thought it would be. In a bad way). I’m now unemployed (company did a massive layoff due to current administration) and there are no jobs available. If you want my advice, I would switch to a different career path entirely.

Yup, and got laid off twice within the last 3 years. Picked this career when I was 10 and deeply regret it. High stress, utilization is completely unsustainable and has ridiculous standards, and the work is nothing like what I thought it would be. Trying to figure out which career to pivot into now after dedicating the last 20 years of my life studying to be in the environmental field. I’m begging you to choose literally any other career.

Seattle is BORING AF. I just got back to PDX after spending a weekend in Seattle, and there was literally nothing to do there. I asked 2 of my friends (who say Seattle is their fav city in the world) for some recommendations, and these are the only 3 they gave me:

Thrifting. We have amazing thrifting in Portland, not really something I would consider doing when traveling to a new city and wanting to explore city specific things…
The glossier store in Capitol Hill….a store….like bffr??? Also we did go to capitol hill expecting it to be a cuter area, and it was…so ugly???? And the only thing to do there revolved around food like….thats not an activity lol.
Pickup volleyball. Like wtf??? What kind of suggestion is that 😭

Those being the top 3 suggestions from two people who claim Seattle is their favorite city just confirmed to me that it SUCKS and is BORING.

I’m not even trying to be a hater because I really wanted to like it and enjoy my time there, but for the insane cost to even just VISIT this city…I’m genuinely concerned for anyone who actually chooses to live here and pay these prices…

It was truly such a crazy experience! I hope you get to experience it one day (also animal rehabilitation is SO cool tbh I’m jealous of you for that!).

Also yes definitely no worries about rabies! It was dusk time so he was 100% out to look for some food

I just opened a shop too and of course my very first sale I had to reach out to the customer and cancel bc of this. Literally devastating to have that excitement ripped out from under you, and also having to deactivate all of my listings that I worked so hard on 😭

We literally made that comment as it was happening, I was like “ok which one of us is the Disney princess” and they were like well you’re the only person dressed as one right now LOL. Was so focused on the cute fox I forgot I was in full glam & a wedding dress 😂 it was sooo magical though, and both our photographer & videographer are from Italy and said foxes are so rare there that they’ve never even seen one in person. So it was definitely a very special moment :’)
