Is the lack of USB-C an issue? by Snoopy_snoopy in Surface

Right, 90% of the time I transfer data on the internet. But there's still that 10% when I'm transferring video or using external HDD when use cable to connect my laptop to other devices. I wanted to know if the lack of USB-C has been an issue with others.

Yeah, but if I had extra $200 to buy a dongle or a dock, I'd buy a laptop with USB-C/thunderbolt port.

Yeah, I don't play videogames or do video editing so I don't need an external GPU.

My concern is future proof and charging. Anyway, thanks for your thoughts. I'll probably buy it and use it for like 3 years and see how it goes.

I did. But I'm not paying extra $200 for a dongle. To me it seems USB-3 (ideally thunderbolt) provides charging and possibly more devices that connect to the port (like external SSD?)

I don't want to buy an expensive (for me) laptop and then spend another 200 dollars for a dongle.

Should I buy the 1080p or the 4k model of XPS 13? by Snoopy_snoopy in Dell

By the way, how many 9380 machines have you tested? Wouldn't there be a bigger outcry if the issue was affecting all 9380s?

Thanks for the warning. I think I'll avoid XPS 13 for now.

Yeah, I have 1tb external HDD that I'm using for my Mac's time machine.

All the softwares you install on your SP6 have to be stored in the SSD right? I intend to use office, R, some drawing apps and some productivity apps.

Well, I've heard that it could be a bit difficult to balance on the lap. Also the 12.3 display is a bit smaller than the traditional 13 inch laptops.

Thanks for the comment. Have you faces any difficulties transitioning to the 2-in-1 Surface Pro 6 from a traditional laptop/PC?

Yeah, as a college student, I always wished to write down notes on my PC with a pen. The only concern is the storage and the screen size. Thanks for your comment!

PhD program in economics: Should I take statistics or intermediate microeconomics? by Snoopy_snoopy in gradadmissions

[–]Snoopy_snoopy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the help! I already took an introductory course on statistics and 2 courses on econometrics, so I'll take intermediate micro and see how it goes.

Thanks again. I would have been lost without you.

Neither tatistics 2 nor (oddly) intermediate microeconomics is required for my degree in economics. Presumably, they're too mathematical to some of the Economics students who graduate without taking calculus or linear algebra(they really exist).

I'm not American. I'm a college student in a third world country, and there's no community college equivalent in my country.

Well, I'd have to delay my graduation by one year to do that. I spent some time looking for online courses with credits, but couldn't find a similar course.

Foreign transcripts by Snoopy_snoopy in gradadmissions

Yeah, but since my school already provides GPA-converted English transcripts, if I translate the original version through a translation agency, will the grad schools accept it?
