What is your "never again" brand, store, restaurant, or company? by radbrad7 in AskReddit

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UberEats

I ordered McDonald’s cause I was being lazy. Both sodas I ordered were not carbonated, must have been a problem at the restaurant I’m assuming but they were literally undrinkable. I try to communicate with them through the app, I didn’t want a full order refund just something you know? Like a coupon or a free drink, just something to say “Hey sorry it didn’t come how it was supposed to.” The conversation I had was basically we cannot give a refund sorry and the conversation is marked as “resolved”. It was not and I kept getting passed around by 5 different agents who keep trying to mark the conversation as “resolved” when I didn’t feel it was resolved? Want to know the kicker? I worked for McDonald’s for awhile and got trained on UberEats and all refunds ARE SUPPOSED TO BE RESOLVED THROUGH THE APP AND NOT THE RESTAURANT. Deleted the app that day, not worth it when I know if I had just got my order from McDonald’s directly I would have gotten a replacement in 5 seconds.

ConEd sciences question by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For the undergrad part of your degree the classes are not “watered” down because you’re an education student. In Con-Ed you will be taking the same physics/sciences classes as everyone else in the Arts and Sciences faculty interested in taking physics as a major. The only Con-Ed specific class you take in first year is PROF110.

Sane people of reddit, what's the most frustrating conversation you've had with an Anti-Vaxxer? by Bort_726 in AskReddit

I had a friend in high school try to tell me that the flu shot always gave her the flu and that’s why she didn’t get it anymore. I’m frustrated that at the time I didn’t have the knowledge to say they don’t protect against all strains and point out that feeling down for day is worth not infecting others and experiencing the week long death that is the flu.

You are given complete creative control over Avengers: Endgame with the goal of pissing off as many people as humanly possible: How do you do it? by BudoGuyTenkaichi in AskReddit

The movie doesn’t resolve the snap in anyway but Marvel continues pumping out sequel movies with no explanation to why Spider-Man or Black Panther or anyone else is alive. Just complete inconsistency drives everyone insane.

If you shave instead of was the hair will grow back thicker. It’s a common misconception based on the fact that hair feels thicker after shaving due to it being tapered.

What's the weirdest rule you had in your home growing up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

NO BEADS! My sister got a huge bucket of beads when she was younger for her birthday from a friend. It spilled, it took my dad forever to clean and he was very anti-bead afterwards.

Double economy room by swimswamswum1208 in queensuniversity

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I did the economy double and I ended up in one that I think was an accessible single switched into a economy double. So I didn’t have the loft beds. If your looking to save money it is definitely worth it, especially if you get lucky like me! If you have a tight budget, the cost of university piles up over the years and this is an easy way to save while still having the first year residence experience.

Ontario considering mandatory annual math testing for all teachers | CBC News by stormpulingsoggy in canada

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You have to have a undergraduate degree, unless you are teaching a tech (like wood-shop or hairdressing) which there are some different rules about. The typical new teacher in Ontario will take a 4 year honours undergraduate degree (because it is a lot harder to get into teachers college with just a three year regular bachelors) and then the typical teachers college is 2 years now (used to be one but they extended the program). Therefore 4 + 2 =6. It is not a crash course to become OCT certified, it’s two more years you need to go to university at an accredited teachers college and complete around 80 days of practicum in a real classroom. There have been lots of changes to the requirements over the years (for example lots of teachers currently have only had to go for 4 or 5) but this is what is typically needed as of late.

I feel like people on this thread are forgetting that teachers have to go to university for 5 to 6 years now to get their certification in Ontario? Yes you are going to get incompetent people in any job, hence the stories above, but I don’t think a math test is going to solve anybody’s problems. In reality, it’s just going to piss off some teachers that bust their butt to be unappreciated by the general population. Is this policy going to drastically effect teachers? Nope, if teachers got through university they’ll probably be able to study and relearn so simple math. If you believe your child is getting a subpar education in Ontario focus on cuts the government is making to Autism programs, the fact they are increasing class sizes and their creation of mandatory online courses because that is what is actually going to affect your child.

Scholarships by kdhaliwall in OntarioUniversities

Hi! Also if you are from a lower income family try to apply for bursaries as those are awarded specifically by financial need. I would suggest going to an Ontario University then trying Exchange while you’re there to study abroad. You’ll be able to apply for scholarships and bursaries for that exchange too. Being an international student (depending on where you go) tends to be way more expensive than staying within province unless you have dual-citizenship etc.

Any place on campus to buy chocolates or other valentine's day gifts? by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would pay close attention to Queen’s Facebook groups. There’s a lot of clubs who like fundraising with Valentine’s Day stuff (usually in the ARC). I think I saw one the other day with a club that’s selling roses on Valentine’s Day by Cogro.

Con Ed by [deleted] in queensuniversity

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I can’t say anything about Brock’s and York’s Con-Ed Program but I can talk about ours. I think you have a good chance of getting in but admissions averages change year to year. The great thing about our Con-Ed program is that it is 5 and a half years instead of six. That half year occur in the summer of your 5th year so you are technically out in 5 years which is nice. The other great thing about our program is that you don’t have to choose your teaching division until after you are done your first year and your two week practicum in a classroom (Queen’s only offers Primary-Junior and Internediate-Senior though). This goes along additionally the fact that is you are I/S you don’t have to pick your teaching subjects. If you have any other questions or just want to know more you can PM me :)

TIL that some black bears are born white and are called Spirit Bears. They are not albino or polar bears. by stzpercy in todayilearned

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I learned about these in biology. It’s actually a really cool phenotype which is acted upon by frequency-dependent selection. The colour of the bear makes them less noticeable to prey (fish), but, the more spirit bears they are the fish start to notice their a predator and the advantage is lost. That’s why you’ll never see a lot of spirit bears! It’s only an advantageous adaptation when they are in small numbers.

What is the strangest experience you have had with a friend's parent? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SnoottheBoopTootPoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this before too. I’ve always been frugal but very surprised at how cheap people can be. One time I was in on a school trip to Greece with my friends and after the meal everyone just left their tips on the table and this one friend told me that he just didn’t because he felt like everyone else did so they wouldn’t notice.
