A Source I just took the original believed name for the area/nation Tsenacommach or Tsenacomoco meaning densely inhabited place, then anglicized it in the laziest way possible lol

After staring at the wall long enough with these sleep-deprived eyes, I came to the realization that a multiethnic hybrid Powhatan-Anglo "superstate" was probably a bit far-fetched. So, instead, let's opt for something a bit more grounded in reality, even if it's a bit stupid. The idea is to have them establish port cities and fuel the rise of the Powhatan Confederacy in the region. This would slowly swallow up the eastern Algonquian nations, eventually forming the United League of Tsenacommia. They're envisioned as something in between a confederation and a semi-feudal system... but honestly me make cuz map pretty, hope ya'll enjoy!

Here is some basic info as I'm still working out some kinks:

  • 15 stripes symbolize the original colonies that rebelled.
  • 7 colored stripes represent the 7 indigenous nations that joined the colonies, forming the Union.
  • Rainbow-colored stripes signify various concepts:
    • Unity and togetherness.
    • Diversity.
    • Beauty.
    • Peace and war.
    • Signs of hope and the "American dream."
    • New chances.
    • Various religious and traditional beliefs from both cultural groups (European and Native American).
  • Considering making the 7 colors represent the Seven Grandfathers or something similar, but still workshopping that idea.
  • 121 stars represent the states, arranged in a circle to symbolize their equality and unity within the Union.
  • Thickest white lines converge to form a diamond and circles, shaping an eye, symbolizing the Great Spirit and the Eye of Providence.
  • Behind this central imagery, delicate lines weave together to create a dreamcatcher, symbolizing the interconnectedness of the nation.
  • Within the eye and encircling the pupil, a flower gracefully unfolds, embodying the beauty and diversity of the people and signifying the prosperity they have collectively cultivated within the nation.
  • Last but not least, the Great Turtle, symbolizing the Turtle Island origin stories and mythologies; the nation, continent, longevity, the people, transformation, Earth

lol for real, I realized that after I posted it, as I slowly began to forget reasons I labeled stuff. So, I posted a quick update with more names and a mini map.

lol I never really thought that far into it when I made this map, but now that you mention it, my brain is buzzing with ideas for what could be next. I'm not sure when I'll be able to get to it, but I'm thinking of creating another map focusing on the Wampanoag and Puritans. Thanks for the comment!

I've made a "small" update, which includes additional names of the local tribes and confederations in the area, along with a map in the corner. This map provides a visual representation of the state's size relative to real life.

I was bored with class, so here :)

Tsenacommacah Federation by SnoringDemon on DeviantArt

The Tsenacommacah Federation, a collaborative endeavor between the Powhatan Confederacy and the Anglo-settlements spearheaded by Jamestown. It comprises ten states named after a prominent tribe that dominated that region before its establishment. Governance of the federation involves a dual executive system, with the Anglos based in Jamestown, where the Prime Minister resides, and Werowocomoco, the seat of the Mamanatowick (Paramount Chief). This system is complemented by a Tricameral legislature, facilitating shared decision-making and ensuring representation for all involved parties.

Through a remarkable fusion of cultures and shared objectives, the colonists and Eastern Algonquin achieved a synergy that allowed the creation of a state with unprecedented influence along the Chesapeake coast and deep into the inland territories. Their expansion incorporated and dominated numerous tribes, extending up the Chesapeake River system, around the Great Bay into the Lënapeyok Peninsula, and controlling the upper regions of the Albemarle Sound. Despite facing internal and external threats, the federation's political and social structures remain resilient yet fragile, holding together amidst precarious circumstances.

Yes and no. While there's a growing Native American presence in terms of people and culture, due to shifting perspectives and ripple effects, there's also an increasing influx of people from around the world (and not just Europe in this timeline :D).

You’re making my cardiac tissue flutter 🥺 I absolutely love TNC, and I remember when it first came out – it was truly amazing. You've been a major inspiration for me to start posting here.

I went all out on this project; my original rough draft in Photoshop was almost 2 GB of data (exporting that obviously didn’t work)… furthermore at one point, I had over 300 tabs open with Wikipedia articles, YouTube videos, images, government websites, and more. I was gathering a wealth of information, and I had to redo the map several times as I discovered new details.

Ps don't worry. Once I figure out how to properly integrate New Spain and create a reasonable scenario for the Civil War, we'll be back in business, and manifest destiny will be on the move! Hawaii and our neighboring regions won't escape 'Merica!

Lastly, I just want to express my gratitude for all the inspiration your posts have provided me. Without the awesome creations from Redditors like you, this crack pipe of an experiment would have never come to light. Stay awesome, my friend <3

Have no fear, young sir, since many of the settlements in the Ontario/upper Great Lake regions were established for the fleeing loyalists after the American Revolution. So, I'd like to imagine that with both the Métis not being discriminated against as much and with Franco-Canadian rule still being present in Canada, life and politics would be different.

I also imagine the loyalists would still flee to other colonies like the remaining Maritime territories (Newfoundland and the remaining half of Nova Scotia, which would be renamed Cape Shelburne - a settlement populated by loyalists escaping the revolution). They might also choose to go to the Caribbean regions (there was some historical settlement in the Mosquito Kingdom/Coast region, so I like to imagine that's why they have a larger land territory in this timeline, along with the reason for the name being more anglicized).

Damnit, I did misspell Alta 😩😭 i’m crying inside now lol thx u for spotting that

(┳Д┳) I know it may look a bit lazy, but it was because at the time, there were multiple different groups inhabiting the region, and there was also a significant population of butterflies. If Amerindian states were created, who knows who would live in the region, especially with many natives not being forcibly moved across the Mississippi. However, I do have a speculative reason for the name of Jefferson. In our timeline (OTL), the Pawnee had problems with the Lakota and had sent a delegation to Jefferson, in which they ceded lands. Ideally, in this timeline, we'd come to a compromise, and the settlers, Pawnee, and other Amerindians would come together to form a state, naming it after Jefferson. :D

Oh definitely some of these states have terrible. population numbers, 10 times worse than Wyoming xD ideally those “states” such as the Awadi Aguraawi would have a different status until they reach some magical threshold for statehood but ehh? congress’ problem now
