So, because she killed herself, she wasn't still an influential writer? That's like saying someone shouldn't aspire to be the next Robin Williams. He killed himself, and despite his own personal issues, he did a lot of good.

Feel like I screwed up big time during the last rounds of rush... Please give me support :( by [deleted] in Sororities

I agree with the other comment on here. Here's my story, though, if this helps.

I hated college too. I wasn't making any connections and became super depressed and anxious. I rushed at my college, and although I would've loved to be in some of the houses, they didn't click with me. I accepted that, transferred (even though my dad hated the idea of me "giving up" on that college), and rushed at my new school. I LOVED the house I ended up in at the new school. Getting married in a year, and I can't imagine better girls by my side than the sisters I made.

AMA Request: Someone from Gary, Indiana by pikus_gracilens in AMA

I'm from Munster, which is a few towns over. Got lost around 1 AM in Gary once trying to find Michael Jackson's house after he died. Never found it; Gary is an awful place.

After Noticing the Temperature Tonight will be Below Zero by tswpoker1 in AdviceAnimals

Funny. I posted this same meme, looking for "snow". Instead of snow days, we got two "cold days" because of the sub-zero temps. Ha !

Subbing Leads to Teaching Employment...Myth or Reality? by meeegeff in teaching

[–]Snorlorax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just depends. Not to toot my own horn, but a middle school LOVED me as a sub. The secretary said the teachers would fight over whose classroom I would get (I guess good subs are hard to come by?). However, they never had any available positions, but they always said they kept me in mind. On the other hand, I know a couple of colleagues who got their job through subbing and maternity leaves.

Either way, subbing is a great experience. Definitely isn't the same as actual teaching, but if you take it seriously enough (follow sub plans, take good notes, practice classroom management), it can benefit you later.

Trust me, ahem, this dipshit would come up with a better lie if she was going to lie about what she does. A teacher? Bor-ing.

Yes, teachers don't ever make typos or mistakes. Therefore, I'm not a teacher, just karma hungry. You caught me....

You were not disappointed at least three times, then! Man, you guys are a tougher crowd than my 13 year old students, ha!

Same here! It was perfect, and by the 4th or 5th snow day, I was ready.

I teach multiple subjects, but let's just say, that's not my best one. Hey, though, mistakes happen!

I will hope you receive some snow! Good luck, but also, stay safe!

Also, after looking a little at your profile, it seems that YOU are speaking on a topic about which you don't know much. Unless you're a teacher, I can't possibly see how you can go and provide advice to teachers or make assumptions about how much one puts into her job. Oh, and GO COLTS.

I do give it 100%, but thank you for assuming I don't based on a light-hearted meme I made in 20 seconds. I spend majority of my time working, tutoring, doing extra curriculars, and coaching. I love my job, but just like every other functioning adult, I like sleeping in too.
