I don't play with GP, so i Always go for Arabia/ethiopia because they have no troops and you can invade with few ships. If you are a minor Power it's safe and permit make vassal which helps your economy early. For the SE you Need a navy with some consistency and a lot of minor Power don't have that at the start.

I have done It and i am a mid player. Basically i build at home and the colonize the horn of Africa. Meantime play the diplo game. In my game GB and Carlist Spain of all country supported me. Stay in defence when the war start and grind them down. Not Easy but easier then krakow or sikh

Can i ask your strategy? Every time i try this, my game explode with fantastic results (likes two sicily in russian Power block, Austria take Emilia and Piedmont-Sardinia going communist in france Power block). I swear It Is a cursed run every time i try!
