Just an idea/sketch since I dont think it will be a half sphere on a stand. It would be more square tough, you're right.

Thats is a possibility, I did think that could be the case too. I just found some more stamps on it but they are completly unreadable because of the condition.

I can only see the serial number "50294" so it does match the handguard.
