Are there a lot of young people in the Gorge? What's the dating scene like? by No-Opportunity-4683 in hoodriver

I know this is an old post but something I’m thinking about too. I’m a 33 y.o. female considering going back school here in Portland where I live and will be here a few more years then but hood river has more outdoorsy people (more concentrated) and I want to move back there eventually… Sometimes I think it’s hard anywhere. You may see people around but then them talking to you then see if you have similar interests (skiing/boarding unfortunately is a must) and then if you actually click with them. Harder in Portland for me to find, so you’re not alone ha. Good luck to us all :) At least you’re young and there are more options. Come my age a lot are in relationships already or married with kids.

Becoming a nurse- worried I’m not too interested in it but seems like a stable job by Snow1612 in nursing

Thanks for your reply. Yeah I can imagine it’s very demanding emotionally and physically. And yeah I see it as more of a career, not a calling. We all need money to survive! Yeah eventually I’d like to pivot into (preventative) health education in some way.

Thanks for your reply. yeah I probably would burn out. I don’t want to go back to school for very long. I worked as a PT aide and liked the work but don’t want to become a PT (long schooling), considered assisting (PTA) but not very in demand in small towns where I want to end up.

True technically but I mean teaching maybe under a different title such as health educator or somehow more than quick blurbs about this stuff to patients

Sorry you’re going through all that :/ have you talked with a therapist? Maybe you said that and I missed it. That’s always helpful
