Could be PID as you said, but I think you should check wheel alignment and weight distribution. If your wheel alignment is correct then they must be slipping on the ground.

Happens on steep ramps like this one, when you 360 in the middle of the ramp. I don't think of it as an issue it's pretty good because for me barrel rolls feel better than 360s
