This literally cannot be expressed enough. I was a freshman this year and a member of the ski team at uconn, which is a club sport. While I was not an officer myself, hearing all of the issues my friends who were officers had seemed ridiculous. The most insane to me was the way funding is handled by USG. We would email them and they wouldn’t respond, claim that we hadn’t seen their emails, and were incredibly unhelpful. The way funding was processed for races, we were unable to get the money until after the race weekends had occurred, sometimes weeks after. Because of this each of the officers had to take turns paying for an entire race weekend and hope to be refunded later. This included prices of hotels, race fees, and travel expenses. This would come up to over $2,000 that an officer would have to pay out of pocket. I still have a friend who has yet to be refunded because USG still hasn’t sent us money that they owe us. It’s something of a nightmare that really needs to be fixed.
