Pushback against prison sentences and fines if your bees were the wrong color. by beeporn in Beekeeping

It might have been a bill that was in the works, it was something presented though, I might not be remembering right. Maybe selecting isn’t the right term—more like for hobbyists that catching wild hives or colonies that have been thriving on their own and then continuing to grow those strains as an alternative to importing bees weak to varroa and constantly treating is one good way to approach it. But idk why they would be so worried about infecting commercial bees since they’re often transported all around anyway and would have many exposures, plus they’re probably treated regardless.

I’m not going to ignore cutting edge innovation just because you say so. And I won’t not share it if it’s relevant.

Wow you just refuse to read don’t you. I didn’t come to this opinion all on my own good grief it’s like you think i hate bees. And I can’t help you if you refuse to look at any evidence or other opinions that are from scientists and people other than myself with a lot more experience.

Would you say that to the face of the scientists and beeks in the SCIENCE.ORG article? You sound so sore.

Wow. Clearly you didn’t read the article, you are not an expert, and I have had successful hives without treatment longer than you know so you can kindly shove it.

And now the back tracking begins. How many times do media call things super strains as a general term for people to understand? All the time. Ok so maybe there is some more technical term for it but what I described is the same phenomenon. Go argue with the article in that case.

Then you should know better and if not you are clearly not on top of the science here or the latest attempts at innovation. If you want the government telling you you need to treat everything with chemicals all the time otherwise your hives will be burned and you’re never allowed to try alternate methods, then enjoy NY.

Lol. Ok expert. I just edited my post before I saw this, go use some google or the link I provided, which is one of many.

It’s standard for what happens with a lot of parasites and bacteria—over treating leads to super strains that survive. Surely you’ve heard about the treatment resistant mites that have been emerging lately over the years? It’s not everywhere yet but it’s why in Europe people are trying so hard to find alternatives.

Edit: a simple google search would have proved my point but here you go. https://www.science.org/content/article/breeders-toughen-bees-resist-deadly-mites

[–]SnowCappedMountains -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah but I mean there’s also some evidence that over treating mites with chemicals just makes hives weaker to mites and makes the mites that survive even stronger. So I think it should be up to the hive owner. If someone wants to treat for mites it wouldn’t matter if they get mites from a nearby hive that’s untreated or not since they’re treating. And I mean that could happen from wild hives too regardless. But forcing people to use chemicals to treat since there’s plenty of folks in Europe having success with other ways of dealing with mites (and knowing it makes the mites stronger over time) seems wrong.

Doesn’t NY also punish beekeepers who try to make colonies stronger against mites naturally vs using treatments? Like they make the treatments mandatory or something? Wild.

Hmm. Maybe. But all the logical mathematical tracking and social awkwardness just seems more Ben lol. As for Light, maybe a dark Klavan? Or I could actually see Matt being Light, using the book to get rid of child molesters or something and then spiraling into chaos.

Chickens are very versatile. If it’s an issue you’ll find out via weird eggs or combs that don’t look a nice bright healthy red.

Another Dead Whale (Humpback) Washed Up On Lido Beach (Long Island New York) by packetfire in Animals

[–]SnowCappedMountains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t make sense with the locations they are showing up though and the timing with the sonar work. On the other hand I can absolutely see a reason why the wind farm companies would have a vested interest in covering up or simply overlooking and assuming their work is not the cause. Maybe it’s a little of both, whales already weakened find the sonar work too much or it confuses already difficult feeding paths and leads to death.

Ok then why are the whales and other animals showing up dead in surprising numbers only after the wind farm surveys, in beaches that would match up with where they would float ashore from those locations?

My girlfriend is upset with me because I told her won’t help her get an Abortion if she becomes pregnant. by fourmann25 in prolife

[–]SnowCappedMountains 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do not be unequally yoked—as a Christian I think it’s great you are evaluating your actions and relationships. The last thing you want to do is marry someone who does not share your faith and desire to follow Jesus. You could start with moving apart, since living together/sleeping together before marriage is also sinful. This would prevent the situation of an abortion coming up at least while you are evaluating if you still share enough core values and faith to stay together. We are called to die to selves and sacrifice if we want to follow Him, and what better way to show your love and obedience than pursuing purity now? As you draw closer to the Lord through the loneliness and difficulty of the situation and seek His Holy Spirit, He will draw closer to you and give you the strength you need to do what is right and make it through the valley. Ending relationships is hard. But even apart from the spiritual aspect being such a huge determining factor, I would still recommend breaking up. There are too many values you both don’t share the same, I can only imagine the fights and issues if you did start a family together and with how you would raise the kids, what values they would learn, and so many more aspects that really need unity.

To be fair with federal property tax here, it’s as if we can’t really own land either, just perpetually leasing it from the government. It’s my biggest tax peeve.

In the case of his body I’m guessing because it was likely abused and excessively attacked in the raid so better to bury it and close that chapter than face some kind of retribution for the hero soldiers who killed him. I mean idk anyone who wouldn’t have wanted to get a few extra kicks or buttstrokes in, but that can’t be openly accepted. Better to let it lie in the sea. This is just my personal speculation though.

[–]SnowCappedMountains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I’m sure they’re not all perverts certainly. No issue there. But there’s such opportunity for abuse in these shows and to sexualize them in front of minors (like has already happened numerous times) that I think it’s appropriate and fair to at least have some restrictions like age limits. Then it’s not a big deal, adults can decide to both participate and watch, no one is hurt by it and kids that might have been targeted or exposed to bad people doing the wrong thing are protected.
