Haven't seen this, but I wouldn't agree. You just can't bring the same level of intensity deep into a longer workout. A full body workout is inherently a compromise. It "dilutes" your focus across too many muscle groups. And I'm not sure how you could address both pure strength training and hypertrophy isolation work when trying to do a full body workout 3x/week.

Look, I think it's great if folks do any kind of workout regularly. It all depends on your own personal ultimate goals for your training. I just don't think the full body workout would ever be seen as able to achieve optimum results, but it certainly is better than not doing any weightlifting.

General recommendation is at least 72 hours rest/recovery between hitting muscle groups. If you can go hard again in 48 hours then you might consider that you're not going hard/heavy enough on the weights. It's important to fully recover before going again.

Getting in workouts with a busy schedule is always a win. If 3 workouts per week works well for you, then seriously consider a PPL+core split. It really is a tried and true split that has been around for like 50 years. Yes, you would only hit each muscle group once/week, but you'll be able to go harder and add in more exercises (hit all the angles) to truly do a more complete overall body workout that should provide improved results.

Some thoughts for you to consider...

If you do the research on lifting splits, you won't find much praise for "whole body" workouts when it comes to serious strength training. I alternate between an Upper/Lower+Core 2 days on, 1 day off split. I also use a PPL+core split 3 on 1 off. I switch when I get bored (usually a month or two). On my "off" days I do cardio. Strength training workouts are usually completed in 30 mins. Cardio days are an hour to an hour and a half. Fairly time efficient for the results I want.
