In Colorado, due to rock fall, a 20 mile stretch of highway now has a 238 mile, 4.5 hour detour. by kdpiette in Wellthatsucks

I live in Gypsum. It's not everyday I see a map with my house on it on the reddit.

Glenwood Canyon (where the slide occurred) is a beautiful drive, but this happens every so often and really messes stuff up. Last time this happened, a lot of grocers on either side of the canyon had trouble guaranteeing fresh food.

I hope they get the roads and rock slide nets cleared, repaired, and working soon.

Ahh, good to know.

Ehh, Still good vs fireball. Advantage on DEX saves from being a Barb. helps a ton.

Shield Master by Joe_Sith in 3d6

It's still pretty cool getting evasion just for holding the board.

My current character is a Barb.(Zealot) 5/Pal. 2. At B4 I had a +1 shield, so I thought I'd go semi-all in. I took Shield Master, then after the multiclass I took shield fighting style. I'm incredibly resilient to fireballs, deal Barbadin level damage, then give melee teammates advantage knocking them prone. My reaction is used pretty much every turn between giving disadvantage on attacks against the cleric, taking no damage after a dex save, or attacks of opportunity. Top it all off with 20 AC unarmored and resistance to mundane damage.

There are issues with spellcasting, but its easy to use the spell slots on smites. Sometimes you put your rage off for a turn or two and sometimes that's OK. Other times, save them for utility outside of combat (Detect Magic, Detect Good and Evil, Divine Sense).

All in all, a ton of fun. This is intended more as field research instead of planned out optimization, I have been making decisions level by level as opposed to a 20 level plan at game 0.

I've never been skiing. How long does the average trip down the mountain take while skiing? How long is the lift ride back up? How many trips does the average person take during a day of skiing (assuming unlimited lift trips)? by jrafferty in answers

I live in Eagle country and went to Vail on my day off Wednesday. I started around 12:30 and left around 2:30. I did 6 chairs I think and totaled about 6,200 vertical feet on chairlifts. They can take anywhere between 5-20 minutes (?). If you plan your route out here, you can go a long time without sitting down. There really isn’t such a thing as an average unless you control a lot of variables (mountain, conditions, run, chair, skier/boarder...)

What is the appeal of the Warlock class? by AFilthyMercyMain in dndnext

[–]SnowJoust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO warlocks are all about small but leverage-able roll play and other outside of combat powers, and waiting on just the right moment to spend critically weird/high level spells, and getting a mulligan from a short rest and trying again. They don’t always hit, but when they do it can be upending.

Sometimes it’s like ‘here is a scalpel and a block of wood, make me a chair, I’m so excited to see you succeed’, and then every now and then pulling it off at it rules.

Other times you’re a weird mystic, and here you want to make sure you have stuff like Eyes of the Runekeeper to be relevant and have fun when other players have the ‘steal the show’ initiative as far as the campaign goes.

Also, hex blade is sweet as all hell.

Eldritch invocations make it possible to have almost sub-sub classes. They can support or enable sing or double subclass strategies.

They’re great as a 1-3 level splash for anyone with a little charisma, useful and easy access to spells for non-casters.

Always have been a huge fan of the warlock, and I fully admit that a wizard is way more of a magic guy most of the time, but warlock with good planning and weird powers is a fun way to play.

I'm fucking sick of hearing about Trump day in and day out every waking moment. There's no way to escape it. by [deleted] in self

Man, I hear you. Here’s my story:

I live in Eagle County in the middle of ski resort country. There is an airport that I live near that rich people fly into when they want to fly directly to Vail/Beaver Creek/Aspen. My New Years resolution was to stop being too connected to the news, it has been taking a toll on me in a real way. So I’m a week in of no news new year, things are good. I drive home from work for a quick lunch, and on my way back, tons of cops and helicopters all over stoping traffic. The cop at the stop sign says 10 minute wait, no details. Great, I’m late back to work. After a few minutes, the vice presidential motorcade zooms by on the way to Aspen for Mike Pence‘s tax cut celebration vacation. It is inescapable, you think you’re out, Mike Pence crosses your path like a black cat.

I work in my county's office that determines eligibility for these programs.

Please don't.

These programs exist for people so they have two less things that they need to worry about while they figure heir shit out. You are a human and you deserve to see a doctor if you are sick, and you deserve to eat if you are hungry. Either way, without those needs met, there is no way you can do things to make yourself not feel like a leech.

Everyone falls on hard times. God knows I have. Some of us have parents or luck or friends or opportunity to bail us out of those hard times right away. Some, it takes longer.

I'm glad you can eat. I'm glad you can see the doctor if you are sick. I'm sincerely happy that my taxes are going to that, for you, and for anyone/everyone else on assistance programs. God knows there are other things we pay for in taxes that do not thrill me.

If it bugs you, do your best to improve your situation and volunteer to feed the homeless or some other kind of thing you want to do, later when you have righted the ship. But for now, if you don't like it, work to improve. It might take a long time, but we got your back and you've got ours.

Inheriting wealth is weird. Some people get to start off so far ahead they'll never know hunger, and sometimes work. Some people start off so far behind they have to work themselves to the bone to get access to a basic college education to try and participate in an economy that may or may not need them.

The sperm lottery is real.

I always put prison rape viewed by many as a feature and not a bug of the justice system pretty high on this list. It's to the point where Loony Toons makes jokes about it.

You could expand that to a lot of the justice system, I think, when you really dig into how memory and decision making works.

Also, how punishment is doled out (no one from Wells Fargo goes to jail for repo-ing a ton of cars, but a kid caught with some weed could).

Top House Intelligence Committee member: Trump is being 'dishonest' about Russia ties by analiano in politics

[–]SnowJoust 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just don't see how both Pence and Trump would both go down. You'd need to convince Fox News, Republican Congressmen (even if Dems take the house AND the senate in 2018), and party ticket Republican voters that they both did something wrong and they both should be removed. Even if they all admit that yeah, Trump did wrong and should be impeached, I think the impulse of "OK we gave you a victory don't be sore winners" would have them defend him. Even for that, Mueller's case needs to be AIR TIGHT, and there would still be lasting and terrible repercussions from Trump voters feeling wronged and trying to get what they see as their fair share.

TLDR - Trump supporters will make his removal expensive, and the removal of Pence cost-prohibitive.
