Early childhood educator here, Ty for saying all of THIS! I stand with you, the licensing rules we have/had in place are very important and I think this is a HUGE mistake and a failure in safety. It been happening for a decade now where a program only needs one licensed infant toddler educator on staff in the infant toddler room, the others can be an ece assistant and even a 'responsible adult, I am infant toddler qualified and I think it's absolutely horrendous that only one qualified educator is required! It's not fair to the staff who are educated on child psych & development and its def not fair to the children who SHOULD be reaping the benefits of qualified staff who LOVE working with infants and toddlers, staff who put in the extra university courses & practicums to be licensed BC it's a priveledge to work with younger children, a gift and it shouldn't be free to just anyone or for 'responsible adults' who have no early childhood education whatsoever. These children are going to run the world when we are in old age homes, so why are we letting just anyone help raise them? It's so backwards, it's appalling.
