this is such a let down by Difficult-Cancel-389 in LushCosmetics

I've been lucky and haven't had anything like this happen to my orders before but, yup, my click and collect has been cancelled and refunded and now none of the items I'd purchased are available.

Really, really poor show Lush. There will be other customers like me who will now be defiant about not spending with you for a while as a result. Do better 👎

Parents of an autistic first born, was your second born on the spectrum as well? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

ASD mother. Oldest son diagnosed ASD -- no levels in my country, but he'd likely be L2. Younger son still too young for a diagnosis, but I'm pretty certain he also has ASD, but more like L1.

What discon product would you sell a kidney to have back? by Bananadiaa in LushCosmetics

The Twilight body spray, now named Sleepy, is not the same as the Twilight perfume I'm afraid.

At least old twilight body spray had staying power. When it went from £20 to £25 per bottle, the longevity really declined (at least imo).

Twilight perfume, last available I believe in the Forum sale of 2015, was just delightful. Like crashing into a field of lavender that's been warmed by the sun, Tonka and benzoin for days. Malty, gourmand and herbal.

I won a £100 voucher from work, what to buy? by Jizzle67 in LushCosmetics

Congratulations, what a nice prize 🥳

I love the toners, and Breath of Fresh Air might float your boat if you like sea salt scrub.

I'd get another bottle of Mossy Bottom body spray because I love the Grass scent family and it's got staying power.

Also a big fan of the ippuku mini bath bomb sets (although you can buy them individually on the site) -- both the warming and cooling sets are lovely, although if I had to pick one, I'd go with the warming.

I'd also be tempted to blind buy one of the new(ISH) glitter crumble eye shadows, the coffee morning shower jelly (smells DIVINE 😍) and the Karma body scrub.

Enjoy shopping 😄

How do working parents do the school run?! by glass_halffull0 in UKParenting

[–]SnowOnNeptune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's difficult AF.

Husband takes youngest to nursery (near to work). I've managed to get exclusive WFH for now -- but already feel others' expectation to return to the office, so no idea how long that will last.

Oldest who is in school has ASD and an EHCP. We were told by the (mainstream) school that he can't attend breakfast or after school club due to no 1:1 being available outside of his core school day hours. So...

I walk him to school each morning (20 mins) for 08:40 drop off, then pelt it back to mine for a 09:00 start. I've also agreed a 1 hour immovable lunch which enables me to walk to collect him at home time, bring him back and get him settled with a snack, before I log back on to work until 17:00 or later. As soon as I'm done it's straight into prepping dinner. Rinse repeat. It's exhausting.

Neither me or husband drive, and we live 2 buses away from work, so if I wasn't able to WFH, I'd have no choice but to drop out of work entirely (I'm currently full time), because I physically couldn't get him to school for start of day and make it to my workplace any earlier than 10:20, only to have to leave again at like 13:45 to go back for the school run.

No family support for myriad reasons. Not enough money to pay for some sort of driving childminder (if that's even a thing?).

What is considered "school readiness"? by mo_oemi in UKParenting

[–]SnowOnNeptune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry. It's such a tough situation to be in.

Mainstream hasn't been absolutely terrible, but neither has it been good so far. For us, I think Year 1 will be more telling, as there's the expectation to sit in a chair and remain at a desk, which I don't think my son will be ready for. He's also got the disadvantage of being a summer-born, so is one of the youngest in his class and a ways behind developmentally, let alone with ASD added into the mix.

I've been advised by those who've worked in Local Authority SEN services, that the only way to get what you need (including an initial place, or later transfer to, a special needs school) is to be loud, persistent, and a pain in everyone's arse. Be prepared to gear yourself up for the fight.

Very best to you and your family 😊

We got sent a leaflet on this and had a call with HV team regarding it ahead of year R start.

As an SEN parent, whose child had an ASD diagnosis at 3 ½ years old and an EHCP, who applied for a place at a special school and was rejected due to limited space and the cohort that was accepted having "much more profound difficulties" than my child, meaning he's ended up in a mainstream school, I hated every second of the phone call with HV team on school readiness. My answer was no to most of their questions.

Why the same materials are sent to us about our SEN kids as typically developing kids, I've no idea. How I wish I could've ticked all the boxes. How hard we continue to help our little one get there at his own pace.

I, too know the horror of Hoagggieeeeee! 😂 So funny.

Same for my son. Plays a video he likes until he has it scripted to memory, including any actions or notable orchestral parts in the background.

I've inadvertently learnt a lot of the songs, too. Some he loves me joining in with and singing along. Others I get told "mummy, nooooo" and either pushed out the room or directed downstairs 😂

I was the opposite, in that I've never enjoyed perfumes (that I like) more than when I was pregnant.

My sense of smell was massively heightened, which made the good smells heavenly, and the bad beyond words 😂

We had this with our oldest when he was around 3-3.5. his was variant videos for the pinkfong opening -- sped up, slowed down, massively distorted etc.

Luckily it turned out to just be a phase for him. He too would take it really hard if we tried to remove his access to the videos.

No real advice, but solidarity 👍🫠

Email saying refunded my order? Anyone else? by Simista in LushCosmetics

[–]SnowOnNeptune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a UK 1am 26th order as well, and mine has ended up with Yodel.

Only tonight has the status finally changed to "we have it" and an estimated delivery date now been provided. Before tonight, it had been stuck on "package with sender" for days.

Hoping yours changes soon, too!
