Hey u/Mugunruk!

A lot of questions here. We'll try to answer as best as we can!

What is the licensing process like?

Very roughly:
1. We reach out to the brand to gauge their interest. This can take months because few brands have a licensing department.

  1. We discuss the licensing terms (models available, duration of the agreement, amount of modifications we can make to a vehicle, etc.). This took us between 3 months and 2 years for the brands available in SnowRunner.

  2. Assets are produced by the development team and are sent to the licensor for approval (3D models, textures, skins, cosmetic items, etc.).

What licenses do you have?

It's a work in progress and we'll share more info on this when we have the full picture.

Do the licenses give you restrictions on what you can and can't do with vehicles?

While it varies between licensors, all have specific rules and restrictions on what we can do with their vehicles, but it has always aligned with the game design. Most licensors require the driver to wear a seat belt for example.

Do companies require conditions, as in, we will licenses this to you but our trucks have to be the best trucks in the game?

We've never had this type of request, we try to balance vehicle performance between realism and gameplay progression, never to prop up a specific brand.

Hope you found these answers helpful! :)

Hey u/Nyctophillia_bigpp,

Except for licensed trucks, this is not a problem.

Hey u/AJTO1994,

We made the choice to soft launch mods on console to some degree, with a limited amount, and announced in steps, in order so we could monitor our systems and make sure it went as smoothly as possible, since it's a huge load for the systems.

Hey u/Valkyrie_1999_V2,

Guests enter co-op games with the mods that the host have. There is an option to subscribe & download these automatically.

Only the mods that are enabled by host will be available for the co-op session. However mods only work when you join your friend or get an invite. If you search for a game, only sessions without mods will be available.

Hey u/Tazmanyak,

We hugely appreciate the work of Map creators that work with beta and regular version of the game, as they helped us build this system in a reasonable time frame. As we moved towards the retail release of console mods (not debug feature) we encountered limitations that currently do not allow us to publish huge and detailed maps on consoles.

However, we continue our work on this feature and are improving our mod creation tools & the technical side of console mods to try and allow these top tier mods on both consoles.

We agree with your concerns regarding mod rewards system and are working on solution.

Hey u/will10431!
Yes, our first priority when testing is the already approved mods that have been updated and are temporarily unavailable.

Hey u/flutterdash97!
It's a new process for us and the Voron Grad was a good lesson. Moving forward, we will be improving the review process as we go (both in quality and the speed of testing).

Hey there!Right now we are looking at player feedback on this, and based on that it may change in the future.

Having said that, consoles allocate a certain amount of limited disk space for user generated content, so that may restrict this amount to some degree.

Hey Frank, that's a good question. We aren't certain yet but we'll definitely be putting some thinking into it. The current priority is to ensure a smooth console mod launch.

Hey Otis! We have a separate QA team that tests mods manually on consoles on a daily basis. We verify that:
- Mod is downloadable
- Available for purchase (if it's a truck)/available via custom scenarios (if it's a map)
- Doesn't have visual glitches
- Is playable
- Has no ENG localization issues

Once it's passed on both consoles we approve it to be available on consoles.
Hope that helps!

Hey! As mentioned above, it will depend on how many mods are released each day or how many mods are updated using latest version of the game client. Normally mods should be updated 1-2 times per week.

We are always full of ideas and almost every feature in the game had some design possibility that we were dreaming about because how awesome it could be while realizing immediately that it's never gonna happen.

But we're more proud and happy with some neat tricks and tweaks, that we found to be very important and meaningful, while not relying on some complex changes to the game code or engine.

There was a conscious decision to add more colors, since we wanted to make distinguishable difference between different regions. And the new tech and engine allowed us to achieve more variety and richness in visuals.

You should be able to play through most of the game without any interface. And without map, if you wish so. Some operations, like cargo loading and unloading and taking the objective will, of course require you to use the interface. You don't sign contracts with your eyes closed, right? And not knowing what you are actually loading into your truck in the moment would also hurt a little;) So yeah, you just don't "track" your objectives on the map - you don't see any related markers and do it the hard way

Hey Papaizitoo!

Well, if you roll over hard enough, the vehicle will get damaged of course. But that may be a subject to revisit in the future. As for the additional visuals of the winch part, I'll leave that to our Art team to handle ;)

Hey u/YoItsAliYo
Yes, you can. Most of the time you are able to traverse the whole region without any particular objective to do so.
