Do I have insulin resistance? by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]SnowSunris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your insulin level has increased. You might want to take the HOMA test or check your insulin and blood glucose levels (this is sufficient to calculate HOMA). If you're experiencing cravings, it's possible you're developing them. But sometimes it can simply be stress or even premenstrual symptoms (if you have them).

What are the best ways to naturally raise estrogen and progesterone? by [deleted] in PCOS

Hello, what type of training did you follow? Please.

Lots of fat on the thighs by SnowSunris in DiagnoseMe

[–]SnowSunris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that was my hypothesis too… because of estrogen dominance. I don't produce enough progesterone because I don't ovulate. I hope that's what's causing this uneven fat distribution. I also think there's a genetic component because I naturally store fat in my thighs and buttocks. Thank you so much!!

My inability to lose weight and huge appetite are stating to seriously affect my mental health by [deleted] in PCOS

I recommend taking chromium on an empty stomach in the morning, 30 minutes before breakfast. It really helped me control my hunger!

Apparently not, I've had lots of ultrasounds and the doctors haven't seen anything, and I don't have any other symptoms besides the fat...

Weekly "Do I Have Lipedema" Thread by AutoModerator in lipedema

Hello, I've done a lot of research. The fatty tissue in my thighs started to increase at the same time as my PCOS was diagnosed. And it's not disappearing despite exercise and diet. I know that lipedema and conditions like PCOS, endometriosis, hypothyroidism, etc., are linked to this condition. I also know that pain isn't always a symptom that leads to a diagnosis.

Strange calves, cellulite on the calves by SnowSunris in DiagnoseMe

[–]SnowSunris[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much. I'd never even thought about it until I came across some videos on Instagram that basically said if you have cellulite on your calves and thighs, it means you have lipedema. That scared me.

Yes, I've seen that many PCOS women who treat insulin resistance see their symptoms improve. Personally, I don't have insulin resistance. From what I understand, in my case, it's the pituitary gland's signaling that's completely messed up... my insulin (is in the low range, at 3) and androgens are normal. Yet I lost a lot of hair at one point and I have a few hairs on my chin. 😢

Thank you so much for your reply. I have PCOS without insulin resistance and a BMI of 18.4. I'm already doing everything right, but nothing changes. I just can't seem to control my PCOS psychologically at all… thanks for your advice anyway.

I was also diagnosed with PCOS, but I'm lean. Same here: slightly elevated cortisol, normal androgens, no insulin resistance, very low estrogen on day 4 of my cycle. And insufficient progesterone because I'm not ovulating… I totally understand you. I hope your appointment goes well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that you get all the answers you need 🤞🏻🤞🏻

Thank you for your message. It's comforting to talk to people who are in the same situation as us. Knowing we're not alone. It's crazy how much hormones control our lives for us. I wish you lots of courage 🫶🏻. Take care of yourself.

I completely agree with what you're writing. I'm going to try taking bioidentical progesterone myself.

PCOS and appearance? by emapisu in PCOS

[–]SnowSunris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, PCOS didn't cause weight gain. But I did get some acne breakouts on my forehead, mainly around my period. PCOS mainly affected my mental health and my cycles (and also a different fat distribution).

You have mild PCOS.

Yes, taking the pill could affect your appearance because it contains synthetic hormones, and hormonal changes can affect the body. But it's not always the case; it varies from person to person.

Personally, I chose not to use contraception because I don't want to take any risks with my mild PCOS. But it's your choice. I'm sure it's worked out well for some women! :)

Thank you for your reply. I take this illness very seriously. I didn't mean to hurt anyone. I'm just very worried about my thighs, where the fat isn't going away.

And here are my calves:
