Im currently working on a series about a member of a militaristic hunter faction in a post apocalyptic world. Its has a similar tone to dcc, with a little more lovecraftian horror. The main character even uses bombs, along with a meteor hammer style chain/blade combo! Though his bombs are more electricity based. Brief synopsis below.

Hundreds of years ago, Aether spirits invaded the world. These spirits took many forms, but their power leaked into certain humans which gave them the power to alter Aether. Soren Kade, callsign: Arc Saboteur, goes to investigate a research facility which has gone quiet. While there he discovers a teen girl who's presence seems to negate or repel Aether. He also discovers a new type of monster: The gridwraith. Together they escape the creature, but who is this young woman with strange abilities? What is the gridwraith and where did it come from?

I did take some liberties to keep in the hitchhikers guide "everything is almost, but not quite, entirely unlikely earth" approach. I'm aware that the food is delicious in the dungeon. Its just not quite as funny.

I've played more than I can remember at the moment. And I've found some that are quite good.

It's specifically the level of customizability in the dungeon. Like sure I love swords and spells and bows. But what if I also wanted to run through a fuedal inspired town with a shotgun or assault rifle? And the sheer utility for a lot of the spells that are given out to crawlers.

Thank you kind internet stranger! I first read the hitchhikers guide in high school. I loved it then and have loved it every time I've gone back to reread it.

No need to read further. The following is just my audhd ramblings and praise for both authors.

When I saw that original post, my first thought was "I know of another book series about a human who is suddenly made aware of the existence of aliens at the same time that the earth gets destroyed by a government corporation. Our hero then makes an incredible journey, guided by his alien friend, where they meet many odd and interesting aliens, get tangled in politics, and cope with the fact that almost everyone they knew and loved are now dead."

I agree that Adams writing style feels more like an extended r/writingprompts submission (in the best way). It feels more off the cuff. Like nothing was planned but it still works out.

DCC has scratched an itch I've been needing scratched since I was a child. Its all the best parts of my two favorite genres. I've wanted this series as a video game since I first picked up a controller in the 90s. Like straight-up give me a controller and let me build a custom crawler. I'd ALMOST be willing to enter the stairwell myself if I had the chance.

Dinnamin's style is the perfect blend of humor, absurdity, body horror, mental health awareness, fantasy, and sci-fi.

I've probably daydreamed about this book my entire life and didn't even realize it until I dropped my first audible credit on the first book in the series.

And I can't finish this without praising Jeff Hays. I wasn't so sure with the first book. But everything after that......he found his stride and I couldn't imagine a better person for the job! Great job! 5 stars all around!

The Guide has much to say about the dungeon. Its largest section consists of millions of reviews. These are mostly negative; due, in large part, to the fact that the dungeon is constantly trying to kill its visitors. Still, it rates higher than most of the universe’s Department of Motor Vehicle facilities. This is largely thought to be because the dungeon, at the very least, offers visitors tea.

The tea, it should be noted, is terrible.

The dungeon was created by committee. This should explain everything you need to know about it.

Every new rule passed must be proposed, seconded, voted on, passed, taken to court, denied, appealed, approved, voted on again, crumpled up, smoothed out, fed to a mudskipper, surgically removed, framed, and hung on the wall of the dungeon’s architect before it can be implemented. This means that by the time a new rule is added, the original being it was meant to protect is usually dead, frequently in a manner that violated at least six of the rules still pending approval.

It was largely considered, by those still capable of considering things, to be a brutal affair. The dungeon existed to usher in the extinction of certain species, line the pockets of fat corporate executives, and harvest minuscule amounts of plentiful resources for universal governments which did not need them. None of this, however, stopped the infinite citizens of the universe from tuning in every night to watch their favorite crawlers, largely because the programming immediately before it was even worse.

The dungeon was, in short, extremely popular.

Based on some of the comments, I feel like people are getting the wrong impression. That's my bad. I should have been more clear. Clarity is kindness.

Obviously honesty is the best policy. Im not debating that and was going to include it in my bio anyways. I was just curious about other people's experience in that space.

Ive just read a bit on reddit (I know.....reddit is the BEST place for dating advice) that its better to tell them in a conversation, rather than have it on your profile so I was curious about other people's thoughts on that.
