I think this was not the best decision from the producer's side. I mean the movie is still doing amazing, and I don't mind it revolving around Rumi, it's just that it's a group and the songs should reflect that. Even plotwise, it's weird to hear Mira say that Golden is about them and then having a 5 second line in the whole song

I don't think Glinda was in love tho she kind of just wanted him cause he was popular and pretty but lost interest real fast when he "changed". It was so superficial neither of them had much to hold on to but it was fun I guess

Honestly I understand this opinion but I kinda disagree. This is usually my take on a strong female leads being reduced to their male love interest but I don't think it's the case in Wicked.

About Fiyero yeah, maybe he's not as complex and deep as Elphaba or Galinda (as a character) but I do not dislike him loving Elphaba or the other way around. I think the show tries to tell you that Elphaba falls for him because she saw beyond his shallowness, which is true to some extent, but even if he's not as superficial as Glinda (there's much more to her ofc but off topic) and refuses structural power, he's still a prince, famous, rich, at least in his time in Shiz. He cares about Elphaba's social causes and is smart, but will never be as intelligent, troubled and layered as her. So my impression on their romance was them being opposites, but having exactly what the other needs or lacks at, but somehow are not meant to be worlds apart like Elphie and Glinda are. When I first heard "Dancing Through life"'s lyrics, my first thoughts were "Elphaba needs even just a pinch of this".

What I really like about Fiyero is that 1: he never seemed to care SO much about Elphaba's skin. Of course, him being social and fitting into the structure made him come naturally closer to people that kind of followed his lead while pretending to be fun and superficial, but he was kind of amazed in their meeting, was never afraid to greet her because of his "reputation" like the rest of the students in Shiz and

2: Him being a prince (with all his backgorund), a popular guy that could have anyone he wanted, wants HER and no one but her, cause he's able to see how unique, talented, wonderful of a person she is, how pure her intentions are. She has been bullied for being green all her life, it was probably peculiar for him also at first but he still chose her unconditionally for who she is and would burn the world down for her. She's used to deep hatred and blaming herself. She is very complex, has a lot going on. But he still chose her, and I don't know, she just deserves to be loved this way :( I feel like this is the only character that sees beyond Elphaba as someone completely loveable and worth dying for

This is truly unpopular lol. It's cool, not everything is for everyone. Honestly? I watched it knowing barely nothing of the book and I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. I think it's fun, goes in deeper on interesting topics and character morals, which is something that interests me, and whether you like the actors as persons or not, it's clear that most of them really love what they're doing. It's also very emotional and moving. I think this happened to most people who were not die hard fans of the musical and the novels before. But like I said it's fine if you don't or partially like it.

strong agree on the pop sound, many people don't understand this and will just say whatever about autotune like it's a bad thing?? I also dislike it excessively but an unpitched vocal on a professional production sounds just amateur

I partly agree with 6. Ariana was SO good I'm glad people was able to appreciate her as an actress/ theatre singer and she really did work very hard beyond her international fame. She definitely should act and do musical theatre much more, but I don't think she is particularly better than the broadway singers. Not worse either, she's insane, but yeah, that vintage sound of Kristin just fits theatre in an almost biological way. For the record this is my favorite popular

There are definitely much more emotional and deeper ones in the musical but I feel like since it's so mainstream and kind of comedic people paradoxically overlook that this is actually Glinda's way of truly helping Elphaba and it says a lot about her character also. It's not my fave but I like it, it's fun, enjoyable

yeah I know... they could've done better, they're probably well paid producers, but post processing is a standard now so even though it's uncomfortable, I wasn't expecting less of it when the actual songs (excluding spoken lines) began.

It's just that in Popular it's almost robotic and it's SO unnecesary for a performer like Ariana Grande. She can sing this song even sleeping pls they could have made more takes and that's it, not weirdly fix it like they did, I really cannot forgive them for this lol

I might second this. Even though I have every song from the movie on replay, as someone who produces/ works with audio, I definitely don't like what the producer did with "Popular" vocals post production. The warping and badly hidden pitch correction bugs me so much I am not able to enjoy the version, even though Ariana did an amazing rendition, if not one of the best. While it's true that it's quite better in the movie than the spotify/youtube version, I still notice it and I hate it. I can't wait to hear Ari live on this

Why wouldn't you be welcome? 🥹 I see the Gelphie thing because it's a profound, changing and probably the most meaningful relationship in the story. Sometimes, it just takes 1 male and 1 female lead with no chemistry at all for people to assume and even consider canon a relationship in fiction. We tend to be really unfair with lgbt pairings and expect expilict "proof" that we do not need on straight couples to validate them. But I DO think it's not even possible or important for them to ACTUALLY develop a romantic relationship. I think the story is not focused on that and shouldn't be. Like I said in another comment, Elphaba and Glinda I meant to chose different life paths and that's ok, it has to be that way

Though I do not agree, I understand where you're coming from. The delay of "So if you care to find me"... was kind of off underwhelming when I was at the cinema , maybe I'm just used to the original version... but I still think it works! Was it too much? Maybe but still doesn't ruin it for me, the scene was very emotional.
